Projects 32 Closed Cab Pickup Build

  1. That generator mount looks like it will do the job well. The cast aluminum generator mounts of that type always looked flimsy to me. I wonder how many broke with the heavy generator mounted on them.

We had a Weiand bracket, but it would not fit the Sharp intake, plus it is made to mount a 59AB style fan only. We needed a mount for a cutdown generator idler to mount a fan with a single belt on a 32.

  4. That bracket is stunning. It looks like a cast piece. “Well done” isn’t sufficient!

This last week was a blur and I didn't take as many pictures as I should have. I had a goal of getting the truck back on the road to drive to RPM Nationals on the 24th/25th of this month, so we did a thrash to try to make it.

We got the new engine in and ready to fire...3

But I didn't do my homework on piston to head clearance like I thought I had. These were brand new Edelbrock heads, so I guess I just assumed I have plenty of combustion chamber clearance. We found out differently, so out with that engine until I have time to sort things out. More on that later.

We went to plan B and threw in "Old Faithfull Green" from my RPU, so we could make our goal of RPM Nats...

Not how I wanted this all to play out, but it gives me an opportunity to sort out the rest of the new drivetrain, brakes, stance, wheel tire combo, etc.

So here is where the truck is, as of today, with a few days to breathe before loading up for the swapmeet at RPM.

I am really happy with the ride height in the rear, with the 7.50-16 tucking in the fender real nice.

I am also happy with how the "new" Ford rear fenders and cab corner repairs blended in...

I might mess with the front end to see if I can get it a little lower, but it' s not bad for now...

I changed the look up a bit from last year. I am sure some will like the changes, some won't...but that's all part of hot rodding, right?

It's looking great, Neal. The paint blend did, indeed, come out well. Have a great time at the event. Mart.

Me, I bought the Rocky33 from him! Sold it after a few months to concentrate on my Touring. Most fun hot rod I ever driven

I love and hate this thread Neal. Love it for the ride and inspiration. Hate it for not having similar accomplishments and fun out of my 32pu.
Hope things are going as well as they can with your dad.
