Bummer, some good parts in there! When you posted that it broke I didn’t think it was quite so catastrophic.

Man, I thought my engine carnage was bad, but you've got me beat.

Looked good in person but I cant wait to see it in color.

Brutal Neal. The car is coming out perfect despite the setbacks. Thank you for taking us along.

Picked up a standard bore 59A today. Hopefully there are still some useable parts in the blown up one.

That looks wild. Out of interest did you get to finish your time at the ROC? Or did it need pushing onto the trailer?

We were about a mile from the hotel when the cam let loose, so the car was pushed into the trailer.

I am producing these now. 3” shorter in the rear and 3.5” shorter up front. Fronts I make stock height or 1” lower. I am new to this site and don’t quite understand its format. I’m on Facebook an instagram, search metalguy34. Or message me here?

Jason: Your bumper irons look good. The originals had radiused not square edges. The original reproduction shorty irons I bought several pairs of at the LARS made by Bob V had the radiused edge. Not a big deal but something a die hard deuce whore like myself notices.

I have been making 32 shorty brackets for a few weeks now. I am new to this site, was planning on starting a post for these soon. They are 3” short in the rear and 3.5” up front, 1/4” material. I offer the fronts dropped 1” or stock height. Mild steel or Stainless. Let me know if you want more information.

That is something I discussed with people as I was developing these, people seem to like them both ways. My thoughts are that detail can be added by the end user before chrome or polish or paint. They are also 1/4” as opposed to 5/16”. I found the thicker material, especially in the rear to look too bulky considering their smaller size.

Thank you for the information. I've changed direction on my 5W project and decided to go without bumpers. I will keep you in mind for future projects.

I would like to see more of the purple 32 you showed with your brackets.

I ended up making some really short rear bumper brackets... 20241102_122236.jpg 20241102_133959.jpg 20241102_143602.jpg 20241102_143742.jpg

I took some original rear brackets that had been poorly modified in the past and cut the ends off to make filler plates to finish off the frame horn covers. They will get sent off to the plater soon.

Nice. The blue car belongs to a good customer of mine. The first set I made was a custom job for him. I also dropped an original headlight bar for him. He had a knee replacement, when he is able to get in the shop again I will have more pictures with brackets and the headlight bar.

I think it’s being torn down to send the sheetmetal to the chromer.

The blown up engine kinda took the wind out of my sail. I need to get out of the funk I'm in with this car, as I'd rather start work on a new roadster project than work on the 5w right now. Hopefully it doesn't go to rest in the back corner of my shop, along side my RPU.

  26. No, no, no.
You need to continue on the 4k coupe.
    Just my opinion.

Put me in the camp of folks who are continually inspired by your creativity and work on this coupe. Sometimes we have to correct our course to get back that "wind in the sails".

That said... hopped-up flatties do have a tendency to challenge progress!

I followed both of those builds, and really enjoyed them. A side by side photo of them would be nice to see. Best wishes for the Holidays. Bob
