You’re not gonna use oil and grease in that car are you? It’ll get everything dirty!

Only a few over the counter amenities like heads, intake & other related pieces & parts, otherwise the Neil/Ford stuff with a shine throw in !

Josh got the steel roof insert installed. It's held in by an original style tack strip. The metal skin will eventually be covered in off-white upholstery...but for now the bare metal matches the rest of the car

The plug covers are from Noble, plug wires were a bulk roll from Ton's Performance. I think Noble has similar wire.

Man, there doesn't look to be a wave, ding, or dent on that body. Great work to those guys. I respect that.

I think the only sheet metal getting chromed will be the rear frame horn covers. I've always liked that look.

I picked up the car from Josh Carrillo (Carrillo Customs) tonight, so now the thrash begins. Hoping for a shakedown run to RPM Nationals before heading g to the Gathering at the Roc. 32 days left

Neal, That's quite a transformation of the old 4K body. Josh is a metal master and your vision is coming together. Great progress! Ron

I wired up the ignition and charging system on the test stand and will then transfer it to the car. Just seemed easier to do it out on the open.

Also working on brakes. Hoping to get hubs and drums on tomorrow, then start on brake lines

Wheels are painted and trim rings polished, so had to see how that combo looks. I think they will look good with crisp white walls.

While the chop is a little less, the bobbed rear fenders and the stance bring back memories of Mark Morton's Jive Five.

Sad story. The fancy lavender engine developed a nasty oil leak from the front seal, plus some valve noise. All fixable, but not in the current time schedule. Plan B engine came off the bench to save the game. It's nearly the same build internally, except it has an Isky 400 JR rather than a Potvin 3/8. I couldn't put a green engine and red transmission in a car with purple accents, so I painted the combo cast iron gray as a somewhat neutral background. I transfered over as much chrome as I easily could. Onward with the build.

  23. Good to keep focused on the end goal.

Glad you had a Plan B handy.

I'm pulling for you to make debut schedule.

We got the car back in my shop, and pulled out the roller axles. There is no real good way to get stands under the frame of a 32 with running boards. We cut some short pieces of 1-1/2" square tube and bolted them in with the 2 rear most running board bolts. It makes a solid jack stand point and can stay on the car permanently.

I then started in on brake lines and did the rear end while it was upside down out of the car. I used 1/4" stainless and polished it before final install.

This is where I started off this morning.
There are still a lot of pieces to bolt together, but hopefully not too many more bumps in the road

Nice work, pity about the oil leak, but good you had that option. Those stand mounts are a great idea!
I am really enjoying watching your build!

Bummer about the engine…but yeah. The ‘33 we put the SCOT blower on originally had a not so great 59a…so we got a second hand older H&H 8BA…it produced a milkshake that turned out to be a porous cylinder wall. So now we have Flathead #3 in it that we’re chasing a lifter issue on.

Can’t wait to see the whole shebang all together, and brilliant idea on the jack spot.

Every time I check in on this thread I'm just amazed at the level of workmanship and attention to details.

Bummer about the purple engine but hopefully you get that fixed further down the road.
