I'm looking for pics of fenderless 32-34 ford pickups with model A beds on them, high boy or channelled. the stock bed has always seemed a bit bulky on fenderless 32-34s in my opinion and an A bed seems like a logical solution. thanks in advance!

I hope there's more pictures coming, I was thinking of using a Model A bed on my '33 PU too. I'm just not all that excited about the way the stock bed looks fenderless. The red one in post #2 is kinda what I had in mind. Let's see some more.
Shortypu what's the amount of chop on your top?

So I'm thinking that with the right amount of chop and channel the Model A bed is just right, hmmm. But check out the guy's knees in the 1st photo in post #5.

The orange 33 was built in the 60s with a 4'' chop and a 7'' channel which is way too much channel. IMG_4553.jpg

  15. It had a rusty T bed for mock up. I don't have a picture of it with the new A bed. I deleted the pic for you

I loved that magazine feature so much that I considered copying Simonatti's car when I did my own '34 PU about 12 years ago. I ended up doing a much more conservative restomod, though; I only copied Roger's pipes:

image.jpeg A buddy gave me the bed sides off of a 55 ford. I shortened them and used a 34 front panel & gate.

I'm building a 34, so if you're looking to sell your stock bed, I'd be interested!!!!

That goes for the rest of you guys, too!!! Ragging on the poor old 33/34 beds...don't worry, is be happy to give one a home! ;)

    I always thought a '32 - '34 bed looked good on a model A truck. I guess I'm different.

Speaking of pick up truck beds.....About one year ago my buddy Wes ordered an A bed, and my son Jon ordered a 32 bed from "Last Refuge Hot Rods". Ordering 2 beds that were delivered to the same address at the same time, seemed to help out. His beds are real nice, and the delivery time was a little longer than promised, but about as quick as most places that build custom parts.
Anyway, I haven't heard much about Last Refuge lately.....just wondering. Sometimes no news is good news......How are they doing lately?

As for A beds on 32 trucks.....they sort of look like the builder kused what was laying around. They look ok, but I still think 32 beds look better.
With Jon's we used a Mac Hills tailgate, and LRHR sides, front and stake pockets. Being custom made, you can order any length you desire.
Here is a pic of the 32 bed. We used 1 1/2" sq tube for the base. At the bottom rear we used a 2x4" rec tube. That tube fit tightly in the stake pocket and tied things together real good. LRHR price is real reasonable, so it might be a good alternative to using an A bed for some. image.png

When an A bed is combined with a 32 cab, usually the bed tends to look too small. But if the cab is channeled, it sort of brings things into scale. If the cab is sitting on a 32 frame, the box looks too small, and it looks a little off, especially right behind the cab. If the cab is sitting on top of an A frame the look is inbetween the above 2 choices.
Using the A box with a 32 cab is like taking a step backwards.....sort of like using a 32 grill shell on a 33-34. It sort of looks ok, but then it sort of doesn't. Not so much for improved looks, but more to save some bucks, or take a short cut.
