Hi everyone, This may sound stupid, but I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with this. I have dibbs on a '32 Model AA Cab. The cab is in really good shape, but... has no doors. And as everyone knows, doors are hard to find. But I did find a company that makes a '31 closed cab (doors included) of fiberglass. The '31 has squared corners on the top of the door while the '32 has a radius front top corner. Other than that would the '31 door fit (somewhat) in the '32 cab? Are the two cabs competely different? If anyone who has a '31 & or '32 Truck, would you be willing to tell me the width & height. Much, much thanks, Jon
The beltlines are different I know that. Width and height can't say for sure. not sure either if the curve of the cab is the same. Doors for 32s arent that hard to find you just need to anty up and open the wallet when you find them. Keep an eye on ebay and the classifieds here and you'll find them. Nothing in this hobby is cheap, trust me. In the long run I'd just wait till some of the proper doors came along versus the lot of extra work it would take to make something that doesnt fit, work.
They are completely different, the belt lines, 3 hinges on the A and 2 hinges on the 32-34. Just a FYI if its a 32 its a BB not an AA. Post up some pics. If it happens to be a A and not a 32-34 cab you will able to find doors easier. I believe 30-31 coupe doors are the same as pickup.
Actually, it's the '30-'31 Sedan doors are the same as the '30-'31 Pickup...coupe doors are narrower front to back.
Thanks to all for your input. Isnaped a few pics to show you guys what I'm up against. I know something ain't right. But the odd thing is the roof lines up. As you'll see in the pics the cab is bolted to a 2x2 steel frame. The door opening is the same as when I first got the cab... 27.25" bottom & middle, but 28 at very top. Both side match. What do you guys think?
The truck in your album has a cowl vent and a welded in firewall so looks like a 33-34 (can't see the back of the cab well enough to see if it has the '34 body line or not).
SimonSez, "You are correct". I just learned that about a week ago. So what do you think about the A pillars? Should they look like that? When I find doors , think they're gonna fit? Thanks Jon
Your body will need some straightening. The back of the pillar (the door jamb) should be a straight and vertical line. It appears that it may also be twisted, although that could simply be due to the angle of some of the photographs. You'll also note that the roof has popped loose from the top of the pillar and will need to be repaired, too. I suspect it broke free when the pillar was bent. The cab is a '33.
Hey Mike, that's what I thought. Been thinking about ways of straightening. A little heat and a come-a-long maybe. The roof was not attached when I got it. It's odd the roof lines up with all the bolt holes and I did try putting a c-clamp on the roof at the top of the pillar, it sqeezed in nicely for a new rivet later. Also on the twisting, the cab does not seem to be twisted, as the bottom, middle & top door openings match each other. And are paralle with the back of the cab. Bottom & middle are 27.25" as the top is 27.825. If you have any ideas on the straightening, please let me know. Thank you, Jon
