Technical 30s-40s? Fender Skirt ID?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rustynewyorker, Jul 17, 2016.

  1. These were too cheap to pass up. But they were cheap because no one knew what they fit.

They're 28" where measured across, just shy of 11" tall (like by 1/4") and have a very slight crown to them from front to back. The shape to me implies 1940s more than 1930s, possibly even early 50s.

Anyone recognize them? I figured if anyone would know this is the place.

Looks kind of like my '36 Ford Foxcraft skirts, but I won't be home to check sizes until next Thursday. If you haven't ID'd them by then, PM me and I'll check 'em out.

Wheel opening shape looks like '42 - '48 Pontiac.

  4. Yeah, I had some '42 Olds skirts years ago and the size and shape is similar, I think the curve arch is too flat on the top for a car like a 36 Ford. But these aren't Olds, or at least not '42.

You're right, the 36 arch is curved more. Sorry I couldn't help.

A quick search of ebay makes me think 302GMC is on the right track...

  8. I agree, after looking at some listings there they're probably 1948 Pontiac - will fit the other years, but don't have ribs. I see in Sold listings one that's identical to these.
