i found a guy hes selling a 1986 lincoln LSC mark7 complet for 500 bucks.it sounds like a good deal but im not sure if i should go for it or pass on it .the car starts and stops qand has low milage. but its fuel injected. what can i use for my shoebox
You could get it and then if you did not want to use the fuel injection pull all that stuff of and buy a 4bbl intake for it and carb then use a electric fuel pump and mybe a new dizzy. Then sell all the fi stuff and use that money for more parts.
say i pull all the fi stuff and the computer do i need a different trans how does that work with out it or the o/d
Pull everything that you need and part the rest. You could probably get most of your money back that way.
If it is a computer controlled trans yes.But like I said before you could sell all that stuff and get what ya need.Hell c-4 trans are cheap and every where.
whos buying that stuff thought it would probably sit in my yard.could i use that rear end it the shoebox or use the front clip?
It will work fine, conversion to carb has done many times before. Running FI with the stock computer will also work, if you get ALL wires from donor car. 86 should have a non-computer AOD for tranny, should be good there; get a Lokar shift cable. 5.0 motors = old 302 with the following differences: 1. Distributor (can't use old points-type distributor without changing gear, needs a stronger bronze or steel gear) 2. Intake (swap for aftermarket with carb) 3. Heads (plug hole in back) 4. Belt (use serp. belt or buy old v-belt setup, complete) 5. Get electric fuel pump
The rearend could work just depends on the width of it.It would be a 8.8 rear with disk brakes which would be good and if your getting the whole car then you would you be able to get all the brake cables And I think that rearend is a link style setup which might work good in your setup. Donor cars are good for lots of stuff if the price is right.
yea it sounds like it.5oo bucks is cool if it will work for my car whats the point if its money badly spent thanks for the help guys
Nothing fatally flawed about the '86 heads, except that the next year they improved them. If you are building a serious motor, you will be changing heads anyway; if you want to propel your car to the store or hamburger stand, the '86 motor will work fine.
if any thing i would get the engine and trans he selling it for 200 bucks sounds like a killer deal just wanted to know if its doable.
yea the homie had one in high school. its air ride had a hole and would not fill up so it bounced like crazy at all the stops. it sat low to.
I bought an 89 LSC several years ago and drove it home 50 miles. It rode rougher than hell. I felt every bump right up my spine. I got it home and my brother showed me the switch in the trunk that turned the suspension on and off. After it was flipped on it rode pretty good.
Another good thing about this deal is the LSC is a Fox chassis car and will have the rear sump, dual drain oil pan. The trans on an '86 will probably be controlled by a TV cable setup. Make sure the cable is adjusted properly and change the plastic linkage connector on the intake to the improved metal one, sold by Ford dealers as a replacement. If you want to run the Fuel injection, there is plenty of info on the required procedures on the NET and in car mags. You have all the parts already on the Lincoln, so why not? The main problem, that I see is the required in tank fuel pump, but many others have solved the problem.
