Well, after lurking on here for 5 years or so & being member last few years, I decided to put my build thread together.

Brought home a really nice 31 parade car model a deluxe coupe & my brother & I agreed its too nice to cut up *yet. So I kept it as a fun historic driver *for now. & my brother donated his 30 Model A Coupe he bought outa a storage unit about 10 yrs ago.

I will try to keep this a Traditional as possible

Off goes the body. Out goes running gear.
    Everything in the air stays.
Roller-frame motor, gone...it became a pickup & off to another home to drive again.

Impressive start and plan. Lately, Nailheads have been in my line of sight.

Here was the day it was loaded up. I put a top in it and got it into driving condition for a few years. The buil on 32 rails with the Nailhead is coming along now.

Here's the pick-up that was built with the original chassis and parts out back, it has since been sold. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1399250716.515379.jpg

This build will probably take me a few years. Twins are 9. Full time job. 2 car garage. ... lots of excuses to buy a finished hot rod.
But why do that when I can build exactly what I want, take a few more years, & spend twice as much?
My brothers shop is only 100 miles away & dad just retired, so I'll appreciate it so much more if I do 90% myself, right?

Well, to fastforward, I had to use my first cheat: roller '32 frame from Cornhusker:

Wizz wheel, grind, cut, wizzz. Many 4" cutoff discs later& floors out. Gotta get mini 1"-2" channel to get rid of dreaded "gap"

  17. Right on. I'm helping a buddy with a Nailhead motivated '30 pu. He's currently a lurker but I'm workin on getting him to put a thread together. Look forward to seeing the progress and gain some ideas for his along the way.

looks like a fine start... i never get tired of seeing "A" builds, though they do remind me that i've been stalled on mine for years.

Worked many hours on mini-channel. Finally cut out front firewall feet (angle behind firewall joining subrail fronts- I call foot rests) to get rid of gap.
Hamb Alliance = another discount @ steadfast rear subrail kit.
Bought a 32 original grill, & bought my brothers guides to mockup some inspiration.

Dad got on the floor & heated up some henry ford steel to get last few bolts & spots free to spread another 1/2" at cowl. Coulda used another inch of pinch in frame, but we stretched a little.
Really great to be able to work on this with my Dad & Brother. Couldn't get far without them.

Patina painted a replacement tank so we didn't cut up a good tank. Turned out great lots of paint layers to get it to match an some aging techniques I've learned.

Found a 34 truck grill and mocked it up. We like it over the 32, little more mass to it but still similar.

My brother fabricating the floor pans at our friend Bob's place. Bob's a metal fabricator, has all the cool metal forming tools, best part is his place is about 2.5 miles away!

Here you can see how we used the original seat pan but had to widen it since we split the front subrails a stretched the body at around the b pillar subrail area to do the mini channel. Channel about the depth of the lower model A body reveal.

Fabricating all this stuff seems to take forever, but in the long run my brother will have just what he wants. Building this with him has been great, just need to get more space so we can get dads 30 Coupe built and so I can start on my 34 Coupe. Don't think all of this is happening this fast, this is several months in the making.
