Is there any difference in coupe / sedan cowls on a model A? In other words, will a sedan cowl work with a coupe?

The cowl from a 30-31 Tudor Sedan, any Coupe and any Pickup should be the same, BUT I wouldn't be sure about the Fordor Sedans since they were wood-structured except for the Slant Windshield ones in late 31.

2 dr cowl will work but not 4dr or vicky or slantwindow. PU will work too.

What is different about a 4 door cowl? Reason I asked, my coupe is in pieces and there are some 4dr sedan doors with it that look like they could be from the same car as the cowl.

The cowl I have does not have any wood structure to it. Do all 4 door cowls have a wood structure?

  8. Ford used 2 manufacturers for bodies in 30-31. Briggs & Murray. Four door non-slant window cowls should be the same as coupe PU & 2 door sedan if you have the same body manufacturer. I think all slant windows were Murray & were mostly steel. Briggs used wood frames & nailed the sheet metal to the wood frame. Four Door front doors are narrower (front to back) than coupe & 2 door sedans doors. Slant window cowls (all 1931 model year) were on Vicky's, Slant window Town sedans, 400A, Cabriolet 68 B&C and some speciality Limo's.

I've got lots of Model A books & literature if you need more info.

Four door and Vicky cowls are different. Coupe, 2 door sedan, and truck should all interchange. The doors are shorter on a coupe, truck and sedan are the same.

Yup. I have a '30 p/u, my brother and Mom have '31 sedans and Dad has a '31 coupe, and coupe cowls and doors differ from the rest.

So is the only difference in a 4 door cowl and a coupe cowl is the location of the upper hinge? I have coupe doors, so that is not an issue. Just need to determine if I have a 4 door cowl or a coupe cowl...

I measured the distance from the 2nd and top hinge on my coupe doors, and the distance in the 2nd and top hinge on my cowl and they match. Does that mean I have a coupe cowl?
