Tickled to death. This is the maiden voyage. Runs at 60 pounds at a constant 160 degrees.
And no I didn't have a short at mid shift. My heal slipped into the big hole and my toe slipped off the throttle. :)
Once I finally found the sweet spot at start up it immediately roared to life. Don't see a reason to adjust the timing.
    3wlarry your request wasn't ignored,,,
    What do ya think?
    Enjoy....
Be sure to turn up your speakers...

Ahh, the joys of warm weather. Maybe someday it will make it up here to Connecticut.

Nothin' better than a ride in a hot rod. And that flatty sounds down right righteous. Thanks for the lift.

Hot Damn that sounds good. What are you running for exhaust? I'm running a full exhaust system with mufflers and its to quite for me,but I don't know if removing the mufflers will make it too loud,I'm just not hearing the flathead the way I want....... Bruce

Love the sound! Made a few of those folks in the cemetery twitch! What are you running for mufflers?

Thanks everyone. The exhaust is the round track mufflers found at Speedway. Pretty much straight through with minimal baffle. Gives a good guttural sound.

Sounds great! Is 60lbs your running or idling oil pressure?

  20. That felt good on a Tuesday morning.

  21. Well if you put a 235 with 6 carbs, and a split it would be a real hot rod.

That is one nice sounding flatty Pete, I wouldn't touch the timing unless it won't start and sounds like you got the starting figured out. You done good my friend.

Oh and don't worry too much about the oil pressure it'll loosen up when its broken in and drop a little bit. :D

Thanks everyone. Glad you enjoyed it.

Actually lower at 45 warmed up at idle and 60 at higher throttle.
Once it breaks in I'm sure it'll drop some.
Bought this with some inspection but mostly on word. Fair price. It was a good odds gamble.
I know enough about these that the only time its not a gamble is when you rebuild them yourself.

I am not fond of naming cars but I decided today to call her Gertrude.
After my mother who passed last year at 96 and I decided to use her small will to fund part of the cost. She hated that name and us kids always teased her.
    She still keeps giving.

Gotta love the sound of a flatty and the gentle crunch of the old ford 3speed between shifts.

First rides in a new rod you built yourself are always fun. Feeling of built with your own hands.

Sounds great! What rear gear ratio do you have and what size rear tire? My 46 coupe winds up in first faster than that. I'd love to be able to use 1st gear longer.
    Thanks
