Is there any difference between a flexplate for small block Chevy and a 292 six, beside the bolt holes being bigger and more dowel holes?I got a small block flex plate drilled the holes larger and added a dowel hole.It makes deafening noise when I turn it over, put in 3 shims didn't help.

did you check the distance between the flexplate gear teeth, and the starter motor shaft? should be 1/8", you can measure it with a 1/8" drill rod or allen wrench.

    they're all 168 tooth 14" diameter.
