That green piece of plywood is one of two old shelves from a closet Dad built back in the early 1950's, I've been known to save things. Looked at it the other day and decided it would be part of a fixture to hold the door parts together. Need to get some glue tomorrow, and put it to use. Only one hinge needs to be relocated. Windows will be 10 inches tall. DSCF9093.JPG DSCF9097.JPG DSCF9099.JPG DSCF9100.JPG

Bought another home library over the weekend, 2 and a half car loads. The inspector came along on the last trip, helped load and unload. He was handing me boxes and shopping bags of books, then asked to swap and do the stacking. Nice job, note the milk crate he flipped over to finish the stack, just like firewood. Maybe April is the month I do something on the project. DSCF0070.JPG DSCF0071.JPG

Almost half gone and Easter is this Sunday. Last batch of books are slow sellers, the body has so much crap stacked around it most people wouldn't know it was there. I keep lowering my goals, if I got ONE DOOR, cut and finish welded I'd be really happy. Space, time, money, and ambition, The Four Horsemen that kill projects.

DSCF2125.JPG Learned something yesterday at the Reinbeck swap meet. Guy had a 28-29 Fordor rear pan cut in half. For $15.00 I couldn't form that tail light bracket area so I bough it figured I'd cut it out and weld it to the right side of the pan I have.

Checked out things when I got home and that area is flatten on the one I have. The one that is cut in half is actually better.. May have to see if the '31 rear apron might look better with the 28-29 bracket bases added. Now I need another good base area. One step forward three steps back. That red right hand bracket is rare, got it off a South America right hand drive Touring. DSCF2124.JPG DSCF2122.JPG DSCF2123.JPG

Three months and no progress to report on either car project. There is a pile of rocks, and some mason sand in the yard, and a full bag of cement in the garage. Mixed up three batches and some rocks are now stuck in the wall.

This is not a simple four or five cut deal, there are a lot of differences in the two body style doors besides the overall length. I think I've been looking for Victoria door tops for over two years now. Glad I didn't finish the rear door, turns out I'll need to make those Tudor tops a bit taller to match the Victoria top edge. Got all the wood pieces cut, need some hardware to make the fixture one piece. That light green plywood is the exact exposed glass size. The doors are near perfect, and I want to save as much of them as I can. Think I'll make a cut from the top down, then cut the Vicky top to slide in to mate with the window reveals. I think I have things figured out, the Vicky door tops sat outside for many winters and the ice expansion popped a lot of factory spot welds. This was good, I was able to separate the tin from the top piece of door frame, makes for repairing the lacework a bit easier. Should have things cut and in place this weekend. Happy Labor Day! Nothing to add to the project from Hershey. Turned it 90% and pushed forward, I have more work space behind it now, that is progress, need to get back on finishing the door chops.

Looking back at that I should have had it blasted and epoxy primed, but I'm sure there was a lack of funds, no pickup truck, and the compressor no longer worked. Same thing today, but you can also add lack of motivation. Still fun to look back at the old days photos. Bob

DSCF6055.JPG I was loading eBay or on the HAMB and herd a tractor running next door. The Inspector is ten now and able to run the John Deere on his own. He'll be the first to drive my projects if he finishes them.

Worked on the fixture to hold things in place. Victoria door tops getting fitted to Fordor doors. You can see the ugly egg shaped original door tops and the future parallel top & bottom that look so much nicer. I'll have 10 inch tall windows that amount to about a 3 3/4 chop. Thanks, all the pieces were sitting there, finally was in the mood to spend two hours working with them. The doors are as close to perfect as I'll ever find so I'm being careful to cut things so most of the door pieces will be saved. The shapes of the reveals vary so there will be a lot of fine cuts. I had started on the rear door then found out the front door had to be finished first so I can make the top of the rear doors match. Easier to do the work than explain it.:)

Front upper corner from a right side Tudor/Pickup door was the key to getting the rear upper on the drivers side. At this rate I may be welding by July. DSCF7506.JPG DSCF7507.JPG DSCF7508.JPG
