    the "Bob light"...
disassembled ... used dy-kem to make the faded to orange lenses turn red... they had shrunk a bit, don't fit perfect... had 1156 bulbs, think I want smaller a198's ?
don't panic if you find one with shunken / broken lenses as the inner [white] panel fits against the chromed with cut out outer panel... any transluscent red plastic could work...
the dy-kem works great, used it on a harley front fender light turned red and mounted on the roof of my '33... good pix on my frozen comp... nipplar 1.JPG DSCN7645.JPG DSCN7643.JPG

I have always preferred the blind-back (steel-back, leather-back) Model A 4dr, like yours, over the one with quarter windows. But this car looks really good, probably because of the very low stance.

DSCF9215.JPG That is a lot of open concrete, if you have been following this project you know something is up. There is something to that "Less is more" reasoning. More room will allow more work space for the Steelback and Roadster bodies. Goal is to double the exposes floor area. Bob DSCF9216.JPG

Well today was the day I photographed everything and put the ad on the HCCA website. The 1911 Hupmobile is For Sale! I've wanted one for 50 years, this one is as good as I'd ever find unrestored, but reality set in, I want the Steelback and Roadster bodies in finished primer more. More floor space, more money, it was time, I'm fine with it. DSCF9458.JPG DSCF9450.JPG DSCF9412.JPG

  12. Thats a win win and someone is going to very happy with your Hupmobile. About ten years ago i sold four cars i would never get to, it made a lot of space and i got my RPU out of it.
You will be able to move forward at a good pace.:cool: JW

DSCF9521.JPG The Hupmoble left today, some cleaning and organizing and I have a spot to work on the doors.

  14. How are you feeling after the Hup' left? JW

Just checked, and it is gone, I don't feel any sense of loss. I've never been able to keep "Car money" separate, so some will get lost on bills. Welding tanks will get refilled and a saw I've wanted for a long time will be purchased tomorrow. After 60 years I think the new caretaker will be the one to put it back together, it's four hours away, I'll be able to see it.

Takes a lot of time to plan where the first cut gets made, then the following steps. All failures so far, when I figure it out I'll post photos. Saw was shipped, should be here Wednesday.

  17. Sounds like you cut it twice and its still too short. You'll work it it out, i have faith!!:):) JW

This is how I left things this evening, I can't begin to explain what is going on, but no metal has been injured and I'm fine. Goal is to have flat top doors and a flat reveal on top as well. This is the first try at cut line patterns, I hope I understand the final ones.

[IMG] Just so you know what the goal is, and I don't forget, this is a 1929 Ford 60A Steelback. I'm mating the cowl & rear clip to a 1931 Slantback Tub.[IMG]

You can see the door tops are far from flat.

1928-29 door top on top and a 30-31 Tudor on bottom, found out on my search the 28-29 TUDOR is the same.

A real Unique Beast that is...It's like the Sedan Studio at Ford was given full freedom of all assets of designing in the Clayroom around 31/32...

Good to see the real steel getting dusted off...Chase that dream Bob...

I have too much stuff and am assessing a lightening that will help open new doors to many overdue projects...

THANK YOU Stogy! I can see it now, 10 inches of side glass. It also makes the chop that much easier, cutting two curved top doors that now have a dimension to work to. All that paper arts & crafts stuff I was working with is our the window. Ten inches of glass and flat tops, make the top and rain gutter match when I get there.

Bob this is actually a more refined version with the chop actually down to the open rear door window as per your second request...it is perhaps 1.5 to 2" inches less than 10" measured from the bottom body line to top lower hinge...

I will share the 10" version later...sorry for the confusion...

OK. If you can picture those two pieces of 3/4 plywood as glass that is how things will look, just cut and add the flat Tudor tops, no more Easter egg top.
