Hi, I have looked around but can’t find anything. Does anyone have any pictures of the wooden shims needed to fill the gap between a 29 body and 32 frame? I know one of the rod magazines published a how to article in the late 60s or early 70s on how to do this as well. Thanks, —louis
I remember the article. I believe it was in Rod and Custom and they used oak for the shim. I would think that if you place a straight edge on top of the frame you can get a pretty good idea of what you need. A couple of years ago, one of the latest and greatest TV builders, placed a Model A on a Deuce chassis. When they bolted it down they couldn't close the doors.
on a stock frame the body bolts to the frame running the bolts through the cross channels... the '32 frame will run much closer o the outside skins... you will bolt through the subrails not the cross channels... you should not need the funky shaped blocks the A used... I used about 2" x 2" x 3" long oak blocks... cut a little tall and sand to fit...
