Ok, I have started mocking-up the chassis and it became apparent that the rear end is too wide. It's a Halibrand V-8 center section between unknown housings with what I was told are '50 Merc brakes. There are no brackets that might assist in identifying what the housings were from. I've narrowed 9" Fords in the past but I can see that this animal is beyond my expertise. It's obvious now that getting this thing narowed will be the pacing item. I need a source! Who does this? An Alliance member hopefully.
UPDATE: I went to the Rod & Custom Mag. website and found the source I needed. I spoke to Nick Smith a few minutes ago and he says they can do everything need. I'll be taking my axle to the LARS swap as they will be there. http://www.hotrodworks.com/index.asp.html
Never2Old, Wish you the best of luck with this build of your RPU. I am building an "A" '29 RPU bodied Modified. Hope to make it look like it was built late 40's or early 50's. Still trying to figure out what to do to disquise the latere Model Banger ('88 Mustang). Having a buddy make me a log style intake and also a header like an early sprinter or T-Modified. Have fun with your build and we will check back. Dave
So much for my build thread! Sorry it didn't happen. Just finishing the last tasks & re-dos so I can make it to the "Streak"on Mothers Day. Major details: Lengthened body and frame 5". I have some but not many pics if anyone is curious as to more details.
