Around 3 years ago when I was at the California Hotrod Reunion I took some pictures of a 28 or 29 Ford closed cab pickup. It was full-fendered and was channeled. As I remember it, it was a brown primer color and had a pipe rack on the top. I cant find my pictures that I took. Does anyone out there want to share a couple of pictures of the truck if they have them? Thanks!
that sounds like rick kersh (sp...think thats his first name) he's a sign guy ....and the truck was in rod and custom in the mid to late 90's........flatty powered.....with solids.....i've been looking for pics of this truck for a couple months.....no side aprons....z'd frame....unchopped.....sound right...? brandon
That's one of my alltime favorite hot rods. Here's a photo that boxrod took at the Mooneys show. I thought it was a Street Rodder article? Either way, yeah, it was featured some years back. It was a good article too showing the frame and everything.
that's it...couldn't remember if it was chopped or not.....been a few years since i have seen any shots of it......thanks brandon
No, I actually stole that from boxrods photo album and it was the only one there. I have the article somewhere. I'll try to find it and scan some pictures.
I just hung out Sat night with Rick. he's a hell of a guy. let me know what pix you are looking for & I can go snap some photos of it
That would be great! I was trying to remind myself what the inside looked like. Mostly the leg room, trans tunnel and seating position. Shots of that pipe rack would be cool too.. it was real neat!
I sent a few more to your e-mail & I have some from last week I still have on my camera I will get for you too. as far as interior room, the funny thing is he's like 6' 5" tall and fits in it.
Funny - as soon as i read the thread title this is the truck I thought of. It's the only one I picture when someone says "28/29 closed cab pickup". Has to be the best proportioned one ever built.
I really like the look of this truck, nice piece. But it looks to me like it has a very mild chop, maybe 2" or so? Or does the channel, just give it that effect? I would love to have one like this someday, just asking.
The article in street rodder quoted a 6" chop, no channel, 8" zee in front, 18"zee in the back. I can scan and send the article if needed. I have seen Rick driving this around Orange, it is sooo bitchin'. I have wanted one like this for quite some time (among others!). I have all the pieces to put one together but I think I will cut the top off and run rpu. That way I am not copying it completely.
Here are the one's that were e-mailed to me. Does anyone have a picture of the inside? ...or that pipe rack???
Keep the pics coming on this one....details of interior, roof etc. These last few shots are great. I'm in process on a '28 and need ideas, ideas, ideas. I like the firewall. I will be doing something similar except recessed a few inches. The chop is great. My biggest issue is foot room for 3 pedals in a Z'd frame. Tranny sits high inside the truck...ie big tunnel. Looking for ideas all the time.
one of my fave's too there was an article on it in street rodder some years ago had pic of frame and son and pic of truck in its stock form in the 60's also had pic of his crosley wagon too i think i wanna do the same thing with my 25 dodge 4dr make into pickup and full fendered have 55 chrysler hemi to go in it also
