  1. so ive finally got one

the cleanest A frame there is on the planet :p

    engine 14.9 A banger

thats about it! 32 grill shell 30/1 headlights teardrop rear lights and a dog that spends more time in the car than i do

the steering box was out of a doctors coupe that was in a fire i picked up the box today and this afternoon have partially stripped it cleaned it all checked everything and bolted it back together inbetween cleaning other bits

Harley, I LOVE your vision and I know you'll build one hell of a nice Hot rod!

  6. had a bit of a result today i put an advert in the Quail(A club magazine) for bits and i had a guy email me one of the ex chairmans saying hes got a few bits and a couple books that if i gave him my address he'd happily send to me.

i got the books through the other week with a letter inside saying i hope this helps with the build he bought his A when he was 17(more about that later) ect and he said he had a 14.9 engine i could have.

so i rung him up arranged a date to come over to pick it up.

i got over there today the engine was sitting in a crate that the engine he got from schnyders came from the 14.9 has been in the crate for 12 years :O

lifted it into the truck he also had some brake rods he said i can have.

then he said do you wanna see the other A's i jumped at the chance we wandered round the corner to a block of garages opened one up and there was his 28/9 sport coupe that he bought when he was 17 for £45 it was a beautiful thing i was stood there for quite a few minutes just stareing at it.

he then opened up the garage next door and there sat a 28/9 panel van and he said i aint been in here for a while you can tell by all the leaf's.

he then walked down the side and said oh theres another engine here if you want it i was over the moon.
so we put that in the truck he then opened the back of the van up and continued to pull bits out 2 new gasket sets and a big box full of parts included little boxs of new wheel bearings.

he then said yours is a 30/1 is'nt it i said no its a 28/9 he said oh do you want a grill shell for it he then pulled the original shell off the van out of a box he said i replaced it with a stainless one so i dont need it anymore

.i kept saying does he want anything for the bits he said hes not going to restore another one so theres no point in having the bits just sitting there.

im going to keep in touch with him and i said if he ever whats a hand with the cars just give me a shout as im not to far down the road

Restorers are no different from us he was one of the nicest blokes you could meet

heres a couple pics the bits are all coming together so i shall be bolting it together very soon :D

OH... thank goodness... as much as I love the '32 grille shell it's literally been done to death. The first car you posted... perfect.

Keep at it... that's going to be a neat car. :)
