28/29 cowl posts

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sko_ford, Feb 26, 2012.

  1. I was going through some body parts for the next project and I noticed that the cowl posts dont have the body line that is at the bottom then runs up the front. What do I have? I just have the cowl so im a little lost here.

    Thanks ross

  2. Sounds like closed car, coupe or sedan.

Always best to post a pic or two so we can be exactly sure what you mean and you will get the correct answers.

If I saw the right pic, you have the lower half of 1928/29 closed car pillars from a model A Tudor or Coupe.
There pillars did not have a belt line pressed in them.
The center body line finishes at the middle hinge.
It appears somebody has chopped the upper windshield portion off.

Hinge block is wrong for a model T and the T pillar is more rounded on the front edge. Definietly a model A 28/29.
This will not fit a model A pickup or open car body.

Coupe and sedan didn't have the line on the cowl posts, the bottoms of the doors are smooth

  10. I know its A you cant see the tank in the pic but its still there. The post is deeper so im thinking it might be an AA cowl

If you think it is an AA cowl post then the hinge is wrong as AA's have the same hinges as the last model T's and model A pickups.
If there is more to be said about it them I am sure somebody will come on a clear things up.

What you have there is a 30/31 cowl and tank. 28/29 had a vertical post just ahead of the door. Compare pix of 28/29 and 30/31 and you can see the difference.

  13. I know its a 28/29 I have the detachible side pannels in my garage. If you look at the othercar its a 30/31 solid sides and no cowl post. I just didnt realise that only the open cars had that body line.

You also need to check out the shape of the fuel tank top, 28/29 don't have the curved
shape of the 30/31 tank top, sides. 28/29 cowl side/tank seam is straight.
