Installing ram horns on my 272 and see that the dipstick tube is right where the passenger horns dump together. How did you guys solve this? Shorten the tube? Bend it out of the way? Looks like bending it would be easiest but not sure how to get a nice smooth bend. Also not sure how to get the whole deal out of the block. (yeah I'm not the best mechanic) Suggestions, and pictures would be great. Thanks

Thanks for that bump Joker. I felt like a fool for asking but ah well. I just bent the tube a little. Dipstick still goes in and it looks like there'll be no issues. Here are some after pics. 11059875_1583154781945610_4806176145058804825_o.jpg

The "truck" y-block with the ramhorns came with a truck oil pan with the sump moved rearward. The correct truck dipstick and tube are in a different hole in the block, both holes are in the block one has a plug in it. The truck sump is not as deep as a car pan.
So if you have the car oil pan bending your stick and tube was the best way to go.

Hotrod1959, I drove it around a little last summer and it was a kick, but I could never get that 223 to run well and it had a crack in the manifold. I hope to sell it or part it as it has a new fuel pump, distributer and rebuilt Holley 1904. I'll get what I can and put that back into the 272.
I found this 272 runner with 4 on the floor trans (t98) out of a 57 F100 for a good price and I picked the ram horns(came off a bus I was told) with half the exhaust for $100.00 bucks (super score). And I picked up a set of Blue Streak glasspacks for $20 off CL.
Just seems cheaper to have the Y block if I want to do any upgrades down the road. I hope to have it running in the next week or two.
brjnelson, thanks for the info. I have heard about the other dipstick. I'll keep my eyes out for one.

Those heat shields came off the truck I removed the ram horns from.
