We originally started out here cause we didn't quite know what rear end we had stumbled across, but I would like to separate and continue the status updates here in this thread. She's came a long way and looking pretty damn sharp. The beginning. Tear down, clean and prep. The vision... Dash in place.
I think the concept is great. Take a tired old glass t-bucket and turn it into updated steel RPU. Keep us posted, looking good. Rich
The T orginally had a set of side pipes with internal mufflers . We just sand blasted them and had them powdercoated. The body we are using was wide enough to allow them to fit under the floorboards. Tom at Culbersons ( In Indianapolis) decided they would look cool just running under the body, beside the frame and exit thru the body side panel. We have the muffler inserts out at this time but could if needed put them back in .
Dont know until we shake it down a bit, install some seats ( of some kind),a windshield glass etc. It does apear a little long doesnt it? We are really going to try to drive it from Indy to the Morris Illinois Hundret Car pile up.
That's pretty cool. I've got most of the parts for a similar project. '27 T cowl and the back of a '27 T touring. What did you use for the tops of your "doors"? I plan on using the rear doors only. I need to do sometihing to cover up the wheel well area. I think I have an idea, Kind of the reverse of what you did in the front.
Never mind. I see that the rear of your tub is longer than mine. My door cuts into the wheel well area. Thanks for the inpiration tough.
Well, time ran out on us and we didn't get to debut at the Hunnert car this year, but the ol car will have a full year next year. Probably will make the World of Wheels in Indy, then Beatersville next year. Here's some more updates. Shock mounts (front and rear), steering column, headlights etc... Gonna be a neat ride.
??????? Why are you calling it a '27 "T" ???????? First shot looks as if ts a '23 Glass "T"........ New body appears to be a cut up Murry "A" Sedan .......... ?????????????????????? WTF ? OVER?
Yes , it started as a 23 glass speedway motors T Bucket kit car built in the mid sixtys etc. The picture showing the body shells ( in the weeds) gained us a 27 Buick firewall with body by fisher tag, a 30's chevy cowl ( in pretty good shape) and the rear section of a disgarded 29 model A ford tub project. I think we are going to car it a buick.
