Grill aside (no I don't like it either but it's your car). I wouldn't chop it. I'd leave it channeled. It does appear to me to have an inch or three cut off the bottom rather than fixing the rust. Build a new sub floor and mount it correctly though. Last thing I'd do (cosmetics, fix the safety stuff) is improve the stance with a rubber rake and I think it could look real cool. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you can make the grill work, for now, but I wouldn't raise the cowl section trying to force it to work.
That grille does not belong on that car. Look at the bright side though, now you have the first part of the car you are going to build after you finish this one.
Rubber rake is when the stance of the car is dictated by the mismatch of tire size between the front and rear....
Okay thank you! What "rubber rake" would you guys recommend? These are the rims I really like! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hot-...Accessories&hash=item3a604f33bf#ht_500wt_1182
Yes.. he wrote "This thing has a dual transmission, with triple overdrive". Ever drive a dual-stick, 2 speed axle setup? I have.. in a DUMP TRUCK or a home-made "tractor"! Love to hear the explanation for this setup.
i like this car so far (its a good start), but it needs a boat load of work so good luck! I dont know who the HAMB'er is, but he has a bitchin Model T roadster that just looks ancient (with old spoked wheels and it is painted black, but has a rustic look...) If I can manage to find the picture I will try to post it, but I think it would suit you based off of your website. Keep up the good work, you will enjoy your progress when you start looking back at your pictures, so don't get discouraged. Most of all, have fun
Thank you for the words. I have taken all your points to heart. I am over 200lbs and have a broken back from years of riding rigids, so I am definitely looking for comfort, without sacrificing looks too bad. I am just working through the different areas of this car to bring it up to speed. I have a pretty decent idea in my head, but technically I am not up to speed on Hot Rods. Its not a difficult challenge, just a little labor intensive. As for the negative comments I could care less. Thanks again Yeah once the body is lifted you'll see this for yourself... It has two tranny's mated together as an overdrive set up... roger that... I am looking to "dump" this set up no pun intended as you mentioned dump trucks, I will need input at that time of the build...
I keep meaning to tell MrModelT that he has a very impressive car. "Dump" the setup. Funny guy. But seriously... try not to get to worked up about any nay-sayers. If you search around the forum you will see that you have had VERY close to zero amounts of hassle. Your responses (or better.. lack of responses and ignoring them) will color the thread and minimize the drama from the keyboard bullies As for drive train you have an almost endless amount of choices. And hey.. you have a couple of trannies to choose from already!
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. This website is so massive it is daunting to navigate at times. I am used to ferrari chat and lambo-power and the people and community is very tight and friendly. This is a vastly different experience. I have an 18month timeline to get this project completed, and I am anal about deadlines... I am just chomping at the bit to keep pushing on!
no, but this is a close example of what I was talking about. The one I am thinking of is a picture of the driver's side it is about 5 inches lower in that picture with mid 30's ford spoked wheels. It also has a flathead (dont they all) I think the flathead is black as well, black interior. I want to say its like a 26-27 T. First one to find it gets a cookie
Those are nice. I actually really like the wheels you got now, minus the rear tires. Oh and for a seat, if you want comfort (I have a bad back too) I highly recommend a mini van seat. I think they usually use the middle one. I had one in my last car (27 T coupe), and I had it recovered in tuck and roll and it looked awesome and was very comfy. Plus it fit great. I think it was out of a nissan quest?
For you Pennafxu. Picture it with the grill much shorter and on a sedan. Again I wish I could photo shop. The Chev grill is very similar to the IH you have. This is HAMBER MBL's T.See it in his albums.
Thank you! Believe me it takes a lot to discourage me! This car is going to happen! I only like to build top quality stuff, so get ready for some greatness!
I like that a lot, but will chop mine...[/QUOTE] I'am glad you like it! My 27 T is chopped 3 1/2 inches with a 4 inch channel on a homebuilt frame that is kicked 12 inches in the rear 4 in the front
OH GOD that thing makes pleasant tingling feelings in my groin. I think I am in love, it can work between a man and a car, honest........ Doc. (No comment on the.......the.....er........thing this thread is about.)
That just made my morning That has to be one of the funniest/best things anyone has ever said about that car. lol!
