Not only is he a old hot rodder there is not many if any that I can name that has put more miles behind a 32 Roadster dash with three pedals than him

Brought tears to my eyes when I saw the Mackey & Veselka A Comp Coupe car. These guys were from my home town of Corpus Christi and gave us a lot of help when we first strared drag racing in 1957.

 

This is some kick ass stuff, thanks! Any chance there are other early NHRA footage, would love to see if I could be lucky enough to see my car at the Detroit nationals.

You guys are crazy! "Concrete Cowboys" by the awesome Mr. Shooter Jennings?! I think it's perfect music to represent my hometown of Oklahoma City. (Although I'm sure I'm not biased or anything...)

 

Cool footage.....some really neat cars.

But the tunes don't fit the bill.....drag racing is a violent sport and deserves rockin' tunes.

The last part of the video is the best you actually posted more than one photo shot of the Buck and Bohls 444 roadster from Austin Tx. Not only was that car fast but could hold its own in a carshow.

RE "late '57". I too saw a '58 Chev, and '58 Ford wagon. Back then the new cars were about all released in Sept of previous year, so this musta been shot in the Fall. Do we know a date?

 

I believe it was in Sept. of 1957. -could be wrong, I have other similar photos from that drag meet dated in Sept. of 57.

I thought it was good. I never realized how much Shooter Jennings sounded like Blaze Foley or vice versa, You probably like him to, he's from Austin.
