Featured Projects 26 Tcoupe 60s High school hot rod

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Greezeball, Aug 20, 2017.

  1. Here is my new project a 26 T coupe. It all started with a set of headers I found then I started looking for pieces to build an early 60s T bucket with and in my search found this T coupe that was too good to pass up.
It's a 26 coupe body that is super solid on an A frame (boxed) with a 37 21 stud flatty (it's toast) a 39 trans with 40 rear. The flatty is going and an earl 283 is going in its place, I have access to a complete Offenhauser adapter with flywheel, clutch, starter and Hurst front mount.
My goal for this car is to put together a typical early to mid 60s style hot rod.

Here's pics of the headers and the car[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    yup...
checking out those headers, the caps look like flathead ford oil filter tops... that would be real cool...

  11. Yes oil filter caps it's an old trick. The headers are actually really well built and have equal length primaries inside those big collectors.

  13. They're what started this project. I was actually looking for a '19-25 roadster body and found this car that was too good to pas up.

Great project, bet you didn't know just how expensive an old set of headers could be.

  17. Great start, T Coupes were the first old car that got my attention, around the age of seven.

Must have been fun hauling that from Vancouver to Alberta.
Plenty of hill climbs and single lane road...

Those T coupes are some of the coolest hot rods, congrats. Ya gonna leave 'tall', or abbreviate it a little?:D
    Looks super solid btw.

  23. Absolutely not
The back actually has to come up a couple of inches due to some clearance issues.

  29. Got a 39 pedal set today and a buddy has a Flaming River Vega steering box he said I can have. Also this weekend I'm going to get the adapter for the sbc complete with flywheel, clutch, starter and Hurst front mount.
Pieces for this build are popping out of the woodwork now if I can set some time aside I could probably have it running before the snow flies but I'm not betting on it lol
