I was in the Army in '64 some of the 2 1/2 Ton trucks ran a 302 6 cyl with a turbo they were built in the 50's & 60's some diesel, some multi-fuel so I guess that's period correct?

Power and sound question. This is a little off the Chevy line. But My Brother Supercharged a Slant Six and Put a split exhaust Manifold on it with Real Dual Exhaust. That let it breath. It was well worth the work. Fun to drive.

    Just wanted to add that.

How are you progressing with it?

  7. I seem to recall seeing this discussed before and guys suggested using the little Corvair supercharger on one. Not going to get the huff a blower gives you but might work for a mild hop up on a driver.

The supercharger from a '90s Park Avenue with a blown 3800 should be about the right capacity.

been drivin mine for 2yr now, runnin 5lbs of boost and a 500 holley. Made the little 235 run like a raped ape! kick in the ass to drive and unique as hell. i custom made my pulleys using 6in S10 crank pulleys with custom tensioner bracket. and all aluminum fabbed intake manifold. worked out killer once i got the power valve situation on the 500 taken care of. Had to do some vaccum bypass since i was runnin a supercharger.

  11. Old thread but a good one. Anything new on the blown 235 front?

HI. I'm the guy with the blown six in the 54 Chevy shown in No Name's post (#25). It's a 261 truck motor out of a school bus that I hung a GM 8V-53 blower on to with a couple of Holly 500cfm carbs on top. Been driving the thing for about 5 years and it runs really strong. Made everything from the drive assembly to the carb adapter. Not your 1-800-Summit kinda project, but worth the effort. Here's a construction pic and one running.

See enclosed pictures. We make manifolds for Chevrolet 235-261, Chevrolet 250-292, GMC 270-302. I got the rights and design from Carl Sparkman who designed the original about 25 years ago.

I would think the 144 would be a better choice
