I am getting my 235 motor ready to swap into my 51 Styleline. The 235 is out of a 55 truck. I have the short pump and when I go to put the fan on, its hitting the balancer. I did have the balancer off to do the timing cover but im sure its on all the way.

Do I need to use a different fan? It has about .250" to the pulley and is alrady hitting. wtf!

i ran into the same thing on an OT truck . I replaced the clutch fan with a flex fan & it was hitting the alt ---a 1 inch spacer fixed everything

Hey MT would one of the notched GMC fans work?

  6. No. The GMC fan blade bolt pattern is different & trying to re-drill a GMC fan to fit the Chevy pump is a recipe for disaster.

You could "clearance" or grind your Chevy fan blade out with notches but you would need to use a pattern & make sure each blade is identical.... still not recommended.
