223 head question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by slackcat, Jun 12, 2012.

  1. Going to pull the head on my 223 for some work, valve problems. Just wondering if it having it milled would do any good and if so how much?

  2. Bump for the mornin' crew.

  3. It helps a little. I think my block is @ .030 and the head @ .010.

They had fairly high compression I think 8.5:1. You can mill it if you need to, to flatten out warpage, but not much to gain power wise especially if you want to use regular gas.

  5. just true up the gasket surface...don't go more than .020".
