    Mark,

I completely understand the disappointment and I know there were others turned away too. There were also possibly a few that made it in that arguably shouldn't have...but the small amount of advertising the guys did made it VERY clear what the show was all about, and it's their gig.

I wouldn't want to be the one at the gate making the decision because there are so many degrees of cool and just as many degrees of traditional.

My hat's off to them for having a vision that no-one else in Australia has had and doing their best to make it what they want it to be. I should correct that a little. Plenty of us have had the vision. These guys got off their asses and put it together.

Well done Ryan, Willo and Kyle et al.

    Pete

  5. Door bitch is a hard job. Not a resto meet though, organisers call, it's their event etc. As organisers of anything, they have to be wary of being seen to play favors for mates. That pisses people off. Cruel but fair you can get away with.

I wouldn't have let the VW in.

  6. Hey Corey and Sean thanks for the pics.

Yeah It was a little bit close for me on getting the car there, still bolting things on the car at 9:45 when we were leaving at 10:00.
The 1 hr cruise over to Newstead was uneventfull and the weather was perfect for cruising, Bloody weather forcasters need a new crystal ball me thinks.
I'm so glad that i made the effort to get my car back on the road for this event, gotta say thanks to my good mate Gerald for getting my ass in to gear and helping me out.

    Some pics from me.

So let me get this straight,
Classic american 50s cars are not traditional,
But rat rod wanna be's are?
Give me a break- Im all for "era specific" cars but you cant get more
fucken era specific than original 50's cars.

    unclechop,
Talk is cheap. and whingeing on the internet is free.
these guys ran a great show in the middle of nowhere and a lot of people, me included, drove a long way in the rain, to show support and have a fantastic weekend.

Ill give you a break alright....take as long as you want . actually, dont come next year.
    please.

Here Here! Well said lowsquire! I'm so glad to have been at the first of many (hopefully!) "Chopped" Events! The boys did a fantastic job to get something up and running, let alone the event pulling about 150 cars for the first one!
I and everyone I spoke to said they will be back next year, bigger and better i bet!
Hey 68Wagon, What's wrong with the rest of my car? Not shiny enough? ;)

just as a reminder of what the organisers, who went into debt to do this wanted. Their weekend, their call. I saw them turn away a few cars, and people they knew. and think about it at $15 a car to get in they lost money being strict, after all, those turned aways cars were visable parked outside and they only paid $5 to get in. there will always be controversy, but guys its their show they put their balls on the line, so we have to all suck it up and play by the rules they set.

I have no issues with that.

I went along & had a top weekend, being entrant no 4 I was there from fri arvo onwards after setting off from home in the wet & behind me were the SA boys, after they had already endured 6 hours of rain before getting to my town, then another 2 after that.

I also strongly agree with the rules they layed down & was pleased that they turned away resto cars. If you are not happy with the rules run your own event, as Ryan said to me in a conversation "don't attend a rifle shooting event if you are actually into archery"

Top event put on by top guys
