I never would of thought after 20 years I would still not be done with my 53 Merc. I am still under 1000 post, I rarely ever responded unless I had the answer. Thanks Ryan for keeping this alive all these years All the best in keeping these old machines on the road. Leadsled Tim
Glad for the update. Just keep pushing and it will get done. Is it drivable? I consider that the first big step. Have a great day!
I can well relate to the long time frame for a project. Some times life just gets in the way and sometimes the priorities change and the level of importance for "finishing" the project gets put a notch or two on the post of priorities.
20 years!? If I take shit off my car, I can't find it in 20 hours. Stay the course! Get wet done. Hell, I can't stay married for 20 years!
16 years here.....some of the fun is knowing its gonna be done your way...no time limits allowed...best wishes on your build...share some pics if you can...
It's been drivable 18 of the 20. I actually bought it for the running 53 Merc flatty. I drove it for a year like that. I told myself the minute the flatty lets me down I would pull it. I am embarrassed to say but I keep my word to myself, but when pulling it I figured out why it wouldn't start- bad ground. Anyway I still have the 53 Merc Flatty and now a 54 Merc Y block. One of those two is going in a model hot rod. In the 20 years I did finish my 48 Pan. I have also the 55 Lincoln, and somewhere in between also this I have a 1947 big twin, with 1937 80" cylinders to build. My biggest problem is time and space. Things will start to come together when I get my shop done this coming fall.
