I've been milling over the idea of new tailights on my 54 since I bought the car over 2 years ago. Although the Cadillac tailights were installed with great care and ability I just couldn't bring myself to really get into the car. I had just bought some decorative grill mesh from Lowe's. This is the stuff that you would put on the bottom part of a screen door for nothing more than decoration. Anyway's I was walking past the car with the grill mesh in my hands and and looked down at the tailights and then it hit me. 20 minutes later, and this is what I came up with

  3. Gotta love hardware.

Will the people behind you like 'em?
I mean... Can they see your brake lights? It looks great otherwise.

Use a strip to make a screen for your air cleaner.

Actually the lights are still wery visable during the day and espesially at night because I run the 1157 L.E.D.'s that you can get at any automotive shop. Makes the mesh grills look great at night. Maybe I can post a pic tonight!!

Thats a big improvement over the stock Cad lights. [IMG] [IMG] You could paint them black and they would almost disappear until you hit the brakes.

I gotta vote against the black. The whole idea was that he wasn't fond of(for good reason) the caddie tail lights that were installed in his car by the previous owner. This made them a little more palletable(sp?) for him. I agree. It draws attention away from the caddie lights. Making it "disappear" by painting them black would put him right back where he was; hating the tail lights, until he hits the brake pedal...

I say leave them as-is. But I totally agree with the idea of using a strip of it around the air cleaner element...

Now they look like 1983 Cadillac taillights with $5 worth of metal mesh from the hardware store. Right on!

If you're happy with the results now, imagine how happy you'll be when you take a cut-off wheel and chop off those lights in preparation for something else. Yahoo!

Who cares! Who the hell likes the French anyways?? I thought you were Mexican!! If I thought someone was going to blow wind up my Dick everytime I spelled something wrong I would have posted this on the NAMBLA message board. Next time I'm in the market for a viola I'll let you know!!! [IMG] Now I know too much! [IMG]

And on that note here is a freindly neighborhood message from the MEATMEN

    "French people suck,
    I've just got to say,
They make our fighter pilots go out of their way,
    They've been hating us yankees
    Way too much
Let's stick the Eiffel Tower straight up their butts

Last time I took Air France
Played a tune on my Uzi
    And made those sissies dance
    Kill a hundred or more
    Really had a ball
Those freaking frog suckers be the death of us all....

    French People Suck
    French People Suck
    French People Suck!"

From one NAMBLA member to another, them tail lights rock! Saw them in person and they look great. HRH didn't really explain the whole story. The guy that that built the car is sort of a local legend. Dude is known for 2 thing, body work and riding his chopper nude. And this aint Cal, not everyone rides naked around here. Anyway, to jack with the car would have been wrong. HRH used some major restraint in not choppin em off. Definitely the way to. I for one love em.

    Christian,

Dig those tailight grilles man! I saw Ol' Chris today and he said his fiddy was rollin' but just needed to be "legalized" with insurance, etc.. I need to get the grease cut tomorrow so I can look presentable at the Cramps show in A-town. Did you hear about all the car trouble I had on the way out to Bracken the weekend before last? Popped an emergency brake spring and locked the left rear brake and glowed the drum. Also sprung a leak in the radiator [IMG]. Got it back together but need to check the u-joints and front brakes now. The gods must have been angry.

    Adios,

    Now that's some funny shit!!!!!

Alright, It seems that everyone is 50/50, hell even Moe(hamb) gave me a lot of shit this weekend but I think I am going to have to keep the car the way it is. I have too many projects going on to lop off some tailights on a car I'm driving everyday right now
