I am trying to scan some old pics. Bear with me, if this works more to come.
I would like to see more......I was there, 14 years old.
The top 2 are for Deuce Daddy Don.
The last pic is Barry Lobeck (RIP).That pic maybe Gatlinburg rather than the Nats.
Thanks - wonder what happened to all of the chrome True Spoke wire wheels - just rust away because too hard to maintain?
You must have had a thing for 34's. At least one of those cars is owned by a HAMBer. The low Vicky is owned by Rice and Beans.
My very first Nationals!!!! Made the trip from Jamestown NY in a newly acquired T Bucket. Drove all the way, around 900 miles one way !! I didn't have a top yet and if you attended , you know that it rained all weekend!! I learned real quick about rooster tails on open fenderless cars !!! I wore a helmet and rain poncho while traveling. That had to be a picture!!! Met Norm Graboski there!
that `40 convertible with the black top looks familiar , if it's the one i'm thinking of i know who owns it now.
Great pics! thanks for taking the time to post them. can't wait for more!
Drove my 31 coupe from California, went on to Atlantic Ocean and back!
Replaced an axle bearing in Memphis and a distributor cap(rained a lot)
That Lobeck 32 Tudor with the Halibrands has got to be one of the best ever built.
And that 34 Roadster sure has a good look.
Post more if ya got them. I keep hoping to find an early pic of my yellow 32 5W.
I always wonder where all the sedan deliveries are hiding today.
Me too! I was 13.
A few more. Alchemy said there were a lot of 33/34 pics. Sorry I threw away most of the pics of other cars years ago.
A few more.
Magoo striping my friends Plymouth and Ford coupes. He also str
iped my blue 34 tudor.
Our club selling street rod calendars standing next to my 34. Of course I had on my Stroker cap. Also a pic of Roger standing in the bed of his C-Cab he won at the nats in 1971.
Thanks for posting! More please...
That was the 1st Nationals for me. I'd gotten out of the Army in 73 and by the summer of 75 I had a weeks vacation coming to me. 2 friends and I hopped into a 62 Econoline van and made the trip to Memphis. We'd never seen so many hot rods in one place before - thought we'd died and gone to heaven. I've probably got some Instamatic photos somewhere.
Awesome pics thank for sharing
The two at the bottom are of my friend Bob's '34...
He bought that car at age 14 in 1950 and he still owns it! He lives in MO now.
Quite a bit of fun seeing the "new" cars in the back ground. Monte, Impala/Caprice , Gran Prix, Torino and the vans of course.
Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for posting.
I was there in my '34 sedan. You took pics of the right stuff. Thanks for sharing.
