History 1973 & 1974 LODI Mini Nats

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HEMI32, Jan 15, 2018.

  1. Perhaps a bit off topic for the H.A.M.B. (since "Resto-Rods" pretty much dominated the early '70s Street Rodding scene) ... but with the popularity of my "Andy's Picnic” and @Graham Hood's "1974 Street Rod Nationals" threads, I thought I'd share some pics from a circa 1973 event that our car club put on at the Grape Festival Grounds in Lodi, CA.

Here's the program for the event:

  19. That's pretty much it for my father's pics of cars at the LODI '73 event.

There's a couple dozen more "people pics" ... but nothing much of interest to the H.A.M.B. community ... well except maybe these pics from the Women's Spark Plug Changing Contest:

IIRC, it was a timed event ... first lady to change all 8 plugs, jump-in, & start the car was the winner.

Someone recently asked where all the T roadsters have gone.
What about all those cool C-cabs, definitely were one of the cars that stood out in a group.

Pat, the Callies car really was quite a piece of engineering, I never saw it in person but the couple of magazine features of it back then had me pretty worked up.

Great pictures. I have to admit, I did like, and still like, resto-rods. We build old cars, 'cause we like the look of them.

I was there but only 10 years old -- remember riding in the box of a Model A pickup with my brother out on a poker run. Good stuff for sure.
