You must have the wrong base then,it should be straight up,not leaned in!! ROY.

  2. It's the original, I can move it so it's straight. I think the angle makes it look weird too, I just looked at it and it's pretty straight

  3. Stunning results from your hard work. Would love any pointers or info on how to the tachometer is properly wired from the factory. Mine was lost long ago and I have a replacement finally.

  4. I need to find the wiring as well, I had the tach rebuilt but I don't know how to hook up the wires. I would guess an ignition hot, a lead from the coil and a ground, but I don't know where the correct ones are under the dash

The Comet looks beautiful in person!! Unfortunately Mike and his Father are getting bit by the crappy replacement parts syndrome and crappy workmanship by so-called professional restoration people! Mike and his Father are taking on more of the project themselves, like the saying goes "If you want it done right,do it yourself"!!The Comet runs beautifully, they are getting closer to being finished!! ROY.

Hey Mike I have a 65 Comet with a stock tach as well. Your rebuilt unit should have three wires coming off it. Black female, red male, and a blue/red wire for the light. Here's how mine is wired:
Tach black female to under dash pink male
Tach red female to red/green wire from ignition switch.
Tach Blue/red to blue/red triple accessories lighting connector under dash.
Normally with no tach the red/green wire from the ign switch would be connected to the pink wire. On mine these are disconnected and the tach is wired in line with the coil circuit.

Btw this is Joe, I met you at March meet. I had the rusty colored 65 and I was with Fred that had the red 64 with the supercharged six.
    Your Comet is looking great!

  15. Joe, you helped me as well. A big thanks to you and yo fiveoh108 for documenting the build. This will go a long ways in keeping Mom's Cyclone in fighting shape.

SWEET! I've always loved the 65 Comet and 65 Falcon. Yours is looking great and equipped just as it should be. Nice work!

Roy it's coming along nicely. Had many stress cracks from the wrong springs being used. My body man noted that the Mercury fiberglass is real thin and easily broken. I'll be using a hood prop.
I'm hoping he will have paint on it soon.

Nice car, I like it! Very tasteful.

  26. There is tweaking done everywhere lol! Thank you. It's a lot of work. Anyone have a dye that will stick to dash pads, the one I used has peeled in several spots and I have removed the dash pad to fix it

First and Second arm and Reverse arms are switched! Inside, closest to trans,is reverse, next out is 1 & 2,then far outside is 3 & 4.This is looking at my T-10 with Hurst Competition Plus shifter! ROY.

I have followed both of your builds and this Comet build is coming along great! I was just wondering if the car came with buckets seats or did you use another source?
    Thanks,
    Mark
