I'm trying to get a truck into a car show this summer but it is a 1965 f100 the cut line is 1964 and older, the only thing I can tell buy the pics that the grille are not the same and the frames are not the 1964 has a straight axle, and the 1965 don't but that don't matter cause people do a frame swaps or front end swaps some one ask I switch it any thing else to look for

and the truck I found has no title but I can get a vin tag from a 1964 and bond here with out a problem

If they don't require a vin.# on the register, just tell them its a '64. IF THEY DON'T ASK, YOU DON'T TELL. At Lonestar Roundup, there were '80s S-10s regestered as '39 chevys, so I guess anything goes.

Some shows use a year "or same body style" as a cut off. Always thought this was for the benefit of trucks like yours.

they say 1964 only and before no mustang cause first one was in 1964 1/2 I was going to title it as a 1964 but just want it to look like one from the out side

  5. with what you have said about the car show i would assume you are talking about MSRA's Back to the 50's .

  8. while i can't condone dishonesty , but if you are asking if you register your `65 Ford pickup as a `64 to get in would you be caught ....the answer is probably not

if I change the vin to match the title no problem just like building a hotrod with just a body you buy a frame or make one

  11. I definitely know the difference,I have a '65 Ford custom cab truck.

I do know that I have seen a bunch of Anglia's posing as pre 48's back during NSRA's 1948 cut off. HRP

If the only noticeable difference is in the grille I'd say you'll get in. $20 bucks is $20 bucks to them. Look at all the guys that snuck a 49 or 50 Chevy truck in when the cut off used to be 48 and down for the street rods.

Change the grille rather than alter the vin.

there was a 1965 or 1966 two years ago the only way I knew was the grille and front end was not a straight axle far as I know the rest of the truck is the same as a 1964 might be some small parts that not the same

I would ask for an exception being it is the same body style. I would not alter my truck just be in a show and I would not alter the VIN/registration for anything.

I would tell them its a 64. If they mentioned the grill say you replaced it.

You might get into the show with no problem. However the thing that starts is when the guy who has a nice 65 f-100 who didn't register his truck because of the cutoff date walks by yours, than goes and complains to the people who are running the show.Than the drama begins

Register it, go to the show, park it, have fun, don't stress.

  19. I just had cold spaghetti for breakfast.

Oh this is not about breakfast at all its about lying to get into a show. I guess its OK if your conscience allows it.

Tell you a story, the Pusher ( see pic) was/is a '65 Chevy truck, we used to have a '64 cutoff on the HAMB and I believe that the HAMB Drags still has a '64 cutoff. Concessions have always been made for vehicles that are basically the same yet newer. I always raced the Pusher at the HAMB Drags as a '65 Chevy and Ryan always allowed it. One year there was a lot of whining about the cutoff date at the races so in an effort to help Ryan not have to hear as much of it I registered the Pusher as a '64, there was no one there that could tell the difference anyway. So I staged and the announcer says the porknbeaner in a '64 Chevy truck, "Hmmmmn I thought that his truck was a '65"

Long story short no one bitched that I am aware of but the truth will always catch up with you.

If it were me I would contact the powers to be and see if they would make me a concession. its their show and they can do what they want anyway, can't they.
