I love that black Galaxie. Those are 63 caps it I believe. I have a set of those somewhere. The 64 caps were kinda plain and homely, like these on this pic I lifted from the net.....
Anybody got pics of the leaf springs set up in back, stock ? planning to lower it as soon as I get it, I know the front are springs and the back is leafs, but never seen one underneath.
my 64 500
Next time you see a post from JEEM, ( Jimmy Smith, Hot rod artist) Follow the links on his signature line. In his profile on that art sight is pictures of his old '64. Truely one of my favorite "newer" cars ever. Kinda a salmon color with a charcoal metallic top, a hood full of louvers, Halibrands, and a dropped stance only really somewhat practical here in the southwest. Came this close to buying that car one time, but...
This is my '64 moredoor I picked up for $500. Doesn't look like much now but give me a few weeks and it'll be a streamlined butterfly...
Here's mine. It's just about ready for the road again so maybe I can post some different pics someday!
here is good thread
Congrats on choosing a '64 Galaxie! My first car was a '64 XL hardtop.
Pros: They come from the factory already chopped and with sexy lines. Parts are plentiful. They sit fairly low.
Cons: Hard on suspension because of the weight. Some key front suspension parts are not in supply.
I would suggest not going the low-rider route as most local governments took the road money to get some booze and whores and it don't look like things are going to change.
You can get everything you need to completely rebuild the front suspension of a '64 Galaxie.
Not here in Florida nice flat road all over the state...and yes you can find pleanty of parts for the Gal, as Malcolm said.
You can even get tubular upper and lower control arms!! (pretty spendy, though)
Separate names with a comma.
