Mummert;Mike has a cool old school setup, not really a drag race engine. With better heads, cam, headers, and compression ratio,it should really wake up!!! ROY.

Mummert;I agree OLD SCHOOL is good, but when you have power goals in mind you need new technology[AND MONEY]!!!!! Mike has a goal and he needs to step up his engines output,302+.020 now,no idea on compression, very mild cam,way old school 351W heads, small tube tri-y headers and individual runner mechanical fuel injection!!! ROY.

Sounds good. We're trying to get the Falcon going by June for the next Y-block shootout. Should be a strong running car. It'll be fun to get together with some other Falcon , Comet guys and do some racing.

Brand new shp block purchased from guy in need. Can go larger for 363 cubes or final hone to new pistons. Like anything new should have line bore checked and square-decked once you have rotating assembly. Steel caps center 3 are splayed. Its sitting at a machine shop now I have no space......Al

Mike;how much does it hold? ROY.

  19. 3 gallons. Todd has this much for his 427 and he said he has about a gallon left after a pass at Bakersfield , so I should have plenty, I am thinking of going to a test and tune at Fontana on Sunday July 6th, if I can get everything done in time. Is that something you would be interested in?

  21. Spent the night polishing stainless steel injector stacks with my 29.99 harbor freight polishing wheel. Hilborn wanted $250 and a local company wanted $220. All it cost me was a sore back and 3 hours! Polished on the left, Unpolished on the right ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1402809653.132479.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1402809664.965266.jpg

  23. Hard to tell in the photo but is that a old Mustang Ralley pack on the column? HRP

  24. HotRod, it is a rally pack, it is converted to work with auto meter gauges, I will be putting my oil pressure and water temp in them. With my hybrid pro neck restraint system I can't look down beneath the dash where they are currently mounted.

Removed the hood and hinges, Installed the taller injector stacks and started fitting the moon tank. I will be selling my surge tank with the Holley float bowl and 6"injector stacks if anyone is interested. KOOL,now it just needs more cam, more compression, better heads, more rear gear and tire and bigger headers!!!!

  26. I think with the fuel switch I will be ok for a while, just need to concentrate on driving. That's like saying you car needs bigger heads, you don't want to go faster, so you don't get bigger ones. I think I will get close to my goal with methanol and better shifting. It's time to have fun with it and drive better. If I got all that stuff I would be going faster than I want, I think!

    Looking very impressive Mike!.....Al

  29. Added an engine diaper, as I was told by a long time racer, "it's just good sportsmanship" plus I've see a couple cars loose it deep in the run once a motor lets go and oil gets under the back tires. $168 shipped to your door for a custom fit oil pan cover with two absorbent pads seemed like cheap insurance! Fits great, hope I never have to use it!

It looks like there is a fair amount of top end in that engine shortening the stacks. I remember a 1964 HOT ROD magazine article had a really good formula for stacks that took valve events into consideration. The initial Superflow formulas I used did not and they were not as succesful. They look like they're tuned to the 2nd harmonic. The 3rd and 4th Harmonic tune up a shorter . It will definitley play with your jetting. I changed my total runner length (valve to bellmouth) from 20" to 15" and the fuel demand went up quite a bit. It was the first time I ever heard a motor detonate on Ethanol.
