So what does it look like today?

  8. I always admired those cars. They were known for their great bullett proof drivetrains.

If HRP runs out of room in his garage, it's more than welcome in my garage full of Chevys!

Look at the stance and the wheels. I think that it is a work in progress. I had the counterpart 63 Dodge and it was a hotrod! Let it stay and watch.

  15. My next-door neighbor and best friend had a '63 tudor former Kansas Highway Patrol cruiser that came with a 2.97 rear gear, 383 torqueflite and a spotlight. He blew and rebuilt the engine, added a 2-4 barrel manifold, banana exhaust manifolds and massive exhaust system (Stage III stuff), then a lumpier cam and an Edelbrock aluminum manifold with a big Holley when the 2-4s proved to be just too much. Also changed out to a higher ratio rear - I'm thinking 3.54 or something in that range. Ran like a scalded ape. His dad had a '64 tudor hardtop with a 361, and that was a beautiful car. Those cars were light and nimble.

  16. I had one from 64 til 66. Baby blue with a white top. 318 with the typewriter too. Wish to hell I still had it. Crappy photo, scan of old instamatic print from then.

Got off active duty in Feb of '65, traded my '58 Chevy (348/3 carbs) for a '63 Plymouth convertible(white, red interior, black top) just like yours, 318 push button. Put duals and a 4-barrel on it with Cragers and black walls; raised the front just a bit. After 80,000 miles the body started to rot at the rear wheel wells. Would love to have it back!

And '63 Plymouths aren't traditional??? What were those things I saw dominating Super Stock in in 1963?

There's plenty of pre-'65 cars here that probably don't qualify as Traditional Hot Rods. Maybe the wheel and tire setup qualifies as a Custom or a Hot Rod starter kit.

my uncle bought it in 1970 while in the army in Colorado for $600. he brought it back to Minnesota and a year later he bought another car and gave the sport fury to my Grandma. she never drove it and it just sat in her garage until 1980 when i got it from her. don't know why she did not want to drive it. it would have made her the little old lady from Minneapolis.
