YES... I'm digging that, too! There are some great looking cars on this thread. Thanks for the photos, guys! Malcolm
hey man . been good. too busy .you ? i have not been here in a LONG time .kinda been layin low . not really goin to shows etc . kinda get burned out doing this day in and day out.just tired ya know.thanks for the compliment on the car though. it means a lot . did you see the feature in rod and custom ?
That looks like a 1965 Olds 98. I noticed in some of the pictures the exhaust running down the bottom of the rear qtr panels, is the trend? I have a 1965 Starfire 4spd convertible in the garage, the exhaust exits though the quarter panel.
A friend of mine came by the shop today in a new to him, VERY solid, yet aged red on red 63 Catalina..complete with factory 389, 4 speed and 8 lug wheels...Originally a tri power car. I was really taken by it.. What a great car. Style, class and muscle all in one. I've alway's been an Impala guy because thats what my dad had and thats what i took a liking to..i've had a couple 63's and a 66 personally. BUT, the Cat was slick! The line's were nice, and as has been shown, would easily lend itself to the Bellflower Look...Or just the simple timeless sleeper.. I could easily see myself having a go at one of these.. GM had thing's going in the right direction in the early 60's no matter what brand you chose. Tony
Back in High school I had a drafting/driver ed teacher that had a Starfire with a factory fouspeed. He took a few of the hardcore gearheads for a spin once. I still remember that sound, not awfully loud but a really deep rich rumble that turned to quite a roar when he punched it. That car could haul ass for such a big car!
So....... a Chrysler wouldn't have any potential? Here's a vote for some of the best-styled cars of all time that you never see built - '57-59 Mopars. (the whitewalls are a little tall.. but overall a nice car!)
The only reason you dont see em built is because you dont see em at all! 57-59 Chryslers are a killer car but good luck finding one that isnt rotted to shit or expensive. By the way...my sleeper GM that I like is a 65 buick skylark...always had an eye for 62-64 starfires too though.
Had the pleasure of seeing the pink '63 years ago, in Willoughby, Ohio, at a summer cruise-in. Yeah, pink is a touchy subject, but it looks killer in person. Here is the latest. Got these pics from Rikster. attempting to do some mild custom treatment to my '64 Starfire. All it takes is money$$ Thinking about a rootbeer colored roof to blend with the red interior. and lowered of course. BTW...the BOP cars DO seem to have better overall quality.
I think that some of the early-'60s GM cars are among the best looking American cars of all time, but my preferences are for '61 Pontiac/'62 Chev bubbletops and '62 Grand Prix. Olds, for some reason, pretty much missed for me from '60 thru '64. This is the only car I've owned from that period of fullsize GM:
Here is the stocker I bought in january ... 1964 Olds 98 ... it's a blast to drive ... Supremes, flakes and bags coming soon ...
That's Fernando's '60 Oldsmobile 98. It has its original 394 Olds with 3x2s. He posts as Durod here on the HAMB. Great car... wish he'd take it out more.
Can't remember what they are but Alex Gambino of Gambino customs built/owns a couple sweet "off brands."
This car is for sale for $8,995. Go here to see http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277770
There's a '64 Olds 2dr hdtp near me FS.....pass it everyday on my way home from work....very clean, stock car....ahhh, the potential of that car. Hudsoncustom......got a pic of your '61??? Wanna sell or trade it? I miss mine.......ALOT.
did some one say 68 chrysler? way too late but hell ya! and the flake roof is in progress kind of an old pic
Check the Radir Wheels party thread for a big Buick GASSER. I think it's a 63 Wildcat, School Bus Yellow and jacked way up. Must be a sight on the road.
