History 1960 San Diego Drag/Street Riots

    Their first location was on Market at about 8th and they cut a deal with city and chrome plated a fire hydrant some time in the mid-fifties. Wonder if it's still there.
     
  2. I don'r recall such a car being there but if there was it most likely was not Jack Jones and Bob Spellman. They were not a team until about '68 or so.

    Great to see this thread brought back up again, always good to hear about more San Diego history. Does anyone remember Andy Smith? One of the original road ramblers members, announcer at San Diego/ Ramona raceway, shop teacher, ran a sohc powered comet for la mesa Ford, etc? I'd be interested if anybody knew/ had any stories about him, his dementia has set in pretty heavy but I spent quite a few days up at his place the last couple years listening to his stories. He was at the "riot" with his 34 tudor.
