The duece 5 window was built by my friend Dave Defever in 1960. This is a car show in Harbor City, Ca. I'm trying to get him to recreate this car today.....
That's a great picture, do you have any more? I'm assuming the tires on that truck are BP's, but they almost look like radials?
They must of not been traditional hot rodders. None of those cars are rusty, or scraping the ground. And they have paint! Must have been early gold chainers.
Not sure on the other cars besides your buddy's 5 window but the pickup belonged to Ed Cousins who was in the "Renegades" of Long Beach. Mick
Dude those are pretty much barns in the background. That's so bitchin' that there used to be NOTHING around here. Not so much anymore...
The photos I've got of Jerry's 56, show it with spotlights and louvers in the front fenders, although they would be covered in this photo by Ed's pickup. Jerry's car had quad headlights and the 56 in the pic looks like a stock frontend. Mick
Ed Cousin's truck is one of my all time favorites! I have met a few people that knew him and they all say what a great guy he was! Being from Long Beach too, my '32 truck project is definitly inspired by his. Thanks for posting this!!!!!!!
Yeah- most were in or just out of high school!!! And those were their ONLY forms of transportation! Holdin' out Lynn??? What else you got! I came by your work today in the RPU but couldn't find you. Awesome pic!
Here is another picture of Ed's truck from a car show program. It was featured in a few magazines too.
Been a long time but wasnt Ed Cousins truck dark metalic blue. Being from that era and area I used to see it at all the shows. It was a constant winner at that time .Very nice. Even beating out the Moonglow and other top cars at many of the local car shows.
