    Im still tinkering on the elc as usual when time and cash are available i recently lost my job due to the guy i was working for neglected to pay the taxes ie payroll business all of it so i been job hunting and tinkering at the house

    Car is making progress she is running driving stopping going up and down dash painted windshield inatalled yesterday my buddy trying to get me to flat black it and ride it

  9. Brings back memories. I built a '59 Elky with/for my grandson several years ago. We tore it down to the bare chassis and did EVERYTHING on the car. He knows how to build an entire car now. I always wanted to dig into one of these 50s GM cars. Was a fantastic experience but an eye-opening one too. They were really poorly built. Amazing how little care they took to prevent rusting. And very interesting how they obviously kludged together the '59 Elky from a station wagon platform to take on the Ford Ranchero that beat it out of the starting block.

    Actually the biggest problem we had was he was 5'8" when we started the restoration and by the time we finished he was 6'4" and had a hard time fitting into the driver's seat!

    I actually posted it for sale since i lost my job i have pretty much went to being a business and no time to work on my own stuff i got it blacked and assembled with 2 weeks of rain when i had a camaro done and had a c10 to start but rain was keeping me from moving it in i drive the car quite a bit i tinker onnthings when i get time which isnt often these days unless i just stop on others still messing with wipers which i put a motor off a s10 on it and just have to find a switch to suit me and wire it i have probably driven the car about 800 miles and except for the lil chinese kid slacking on welding the center bearing plate properly its did ok temp goes up in over 10min siting in traffic but not to often i sit that long truthfully i havnt even really cleaned it up washed outside but havnt did any inside issue im geting is people want the car for about what i have in the thing and thats not happening got to get paid for the work and as we all know nothing is cheap on a 59
