...here's a pic from the 70's of my 59 BelAir taken in the parking lot where I worked,...all that white stuff is hail, not snow. ...the 59 was my daily driver, a 6-stick car. Wouldn't mind havin it back today.
Heres my old 59 wagon, and a 60 I had and sold before it was finished. And 2 59's belonging to my buddy, Fred, who is Wingman on here. He has a FLEET of 59's....haha
I had a sweet straight `60 sedan delivery `89-91 that I'm sorry I got rid of. I bought it from a cholo. Lowered, in primer w/ a 235, 3-on-the-tree & a genuine meican blanketed bench seat! I sold the 13"s and put a set of aluminum slots on it, wish I still had it. At least I still have the 427 & M22 that were going in it. I have pictures somewhere, I'll scan & post them soon.
Mine was a retired Super Stocker I bought in 1962. It had the Bel Air body which was lighter than the Impala with a factory four speed, hi-perf solid lifter, larger valve, three deuce 348. It had been sponsored by a local Chevy dealer in North Carolina and driven by one of their salesmen who had a reputation for being fearless behind a wheel. I added the tube grill after I bought it.
I like the picture of the guy on the assembly line painting without a respirator...times have changed! I will post a picture of my old 59 bel-air. Just bought a 59 wagon. Nice post! Thanks

Here's my '60 Bel Air. I picked it up on the 21st. If you are interested I have more photos in an album - check it out if you'd like. Thor
Pictures are kind of sketchy...from 15 years ago when I graduated high school. Car would have looked way better with wide whites and steelies.

Here's my 1960 Sedan Delivery circa 1972.Bought it in 1968 for $150.Was an old American Tobacco Co.truck with about a gazillion miles on it.Had deadbolts on both doors and the tailgate.Originally a 6 cyl.standard shift,it got a 283 with a full synchro 3 speed in 1971.Drove it for several years until I got in a head on collision that destroyed it and nearly me as well.Bought another one for $50 to replace it but never finished it.It was my first of many wagons and sedan deliveries.
Man, this is a great thread. My grandparents bought my parents a '59 Impala just like this one as a wedding present. Roman Red with a custom ordered red interior (at least that's what my dad always told me). The new car was a bribe to make sure they waited until college graduation to get married. I came around 2 years later and all my early childhood car memories are based on this car. I remember a car seat with a steering wheel. Then we moved from California to NY in '68. The Impala went to a neighbor kid for $200 and mom's new ride was a used green Rambler wagon. Bummer.
here is my 1960 bel air I am going to get this spruced up soon, I am going to start a thread on it Those are some sweet pics in this thread
