Up for sale is this 1958 Ford Ranchero project car. It is already fitted with a 5.0 fuel injected engine and AOD overdrive transmission from a low mileage 1989 Ford Crown Vic. This required new Mustang front sump oil pan and dipstick and motor mounts and a bit of carving on the crossmember for oil pan clearance (very minor notching.) The wiring and fuels systems need to be done, as do brakes and cooling.. I have the wiring harness and computer along with the correct wiring schematic. There are several boxes of parts that go with it, but most of the missing side trim is really missing, as in, I didn't get it with the car to start with. I would also be willing to get it running for payment of time and parts. We would have to talk about that. There is a fair amount of rust that needs to be dealt with. I have some of the replacement panels (lower rear quarters and rockers.) This is a project that is going to take a good bit of time and effort to get done, but it is a fairly rare and unique vehicle. I had planned to build it for my shop truck but finances don't allow for that at this time. At this price I'm barely covering my investment not counting labor. I have just registered the vehicle with DMV so paperwork is not an issue. It now has current plates and tags good til August 2016. Needed to be driveable: driveshaft, brakes, radiator, fuel pump and plumbing, some assembley and wiring. The factory wiring is still in the car and looks good, plus the wiring harness and computer from the Crown Vic are there and in good condition. The VIN indicates that this is the 8th Ford built in 1958. It was built in San Jose, CA for those that care about that sort of stuff. I'm not interested in hearing offers over the phone without you seeing the car first.
