1958 GM Fuel Systems specs

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by CB_Chief, Aug 8, 2013.

  1. I finally got time to scan the fuel systems (carbs and RamJet) from my 1958 Chevrolet passenger car shop manual. I didn't realize all the possible combinations offered that year. I have the following information scanned in Adobe PDF format but am hesitant to post it without permission from Ryan. I don't want to make trouble for him in case of Copy right issues.

    Rochester 2GC & 4GC
Carter WCFB (single and dual carb)
    Rochester 3x2
    RamJet fuel injection
plus the carb specs for BC, 2Gc, 4GC and Carter carbs.

How about it mods? Any thoughts?

You have a basic "Open" system and there are no concerns like a return line as injection requires. The sky is the limit for you. What do you intend to accomplish and what is your budget? Do you have a 283 or a 348? Whatever you do make sure you filter the fuel system well and also do a pressure test on the system just before the fuel line enters into the carburetor(s).
