On my wifes 1958 Edsel Citation I changed the oil and filter. Then I had to put 8 Liter Oil ( approximatly 8 quarts) until the level was ok. on the oil dipstik. In the internet I did find out that the engine should have only 6 quarts (with filter). I supose now, that that the dipstik is a wrong one.
    The engine is a E475, 410 cui.
The current dipstik is 51 cm ( aproximatly 20 inches). Does anyone here on the HAMP how long a original dipstik is?

I have six or seven big series Edsels in the yard, I can check to see if any stilll have their original oil dipsticks.

Please send a PM so I'm sure to see it.

8 lites = 8.45351 quarts so you are a bit over filled, so 5.67812 litres will give you 6 quarts. You are a bit overfilled, you can run it and not really do any harm, drain a little out into 2 litre containers and next oil change mark the dipstick with a file with the correct amount installed. :D

Thanks the idea is good, but maybe the oil dipstik is to short to do this.
