There is a nice looking 1958 century 2 door hardtop on craigslist locally for incredibly cheap. I've never even considered a Buick, but at this price I'm curious. 58 would still be torque tube rear end right? It has a dynaflow and I know they are regarded as crap. Are parts hard to find for these bucks?

Dude, if it's nice and it's cheap and you like it, buy it! You can worry about the drivetrain if/when it has problems.

Dude... please buy that car. If it were within 100 miles of me I would have already bought it.

    Again... please buy.

I'm just looking for info before I look at it. Haha I see there is some Buick love here. I know nothing about buicks and I come from a ford family so I really got nobody with any idea what to look for. It's gorgeous for sure, but I don't wanna fall into a basket case.

    Should be a 364 in it.. I had a 58 Super 2 door hardtop,really cool car. It is a torque tube,and a dynaflow,if it's stock. I hated the trans in mine,but it did work,and my 364 was a damn strong engine.

  10. Dynaflows are okay if they work well. There are ways to adapt other transmissions in place of it. I would look it over good for rust. It likes to hide under the chrome trim.

You haven't lived until you've driven a big beautiful classic Buick.

  21. 58's are torque tube. IIRC 61 is the first year without one.

The guys aren't bs'n you when they say "Do it!". I hope you're on the phone or at their door right now...lol. Looks like a good one.

And I hope you buy it for the passion rather than for how much you might flip it for, as one poster suggested. Though it's true...I don't think you'll do badly if and when you ever decide to sell it.

  24. That's almost too good to be true. A 50,000 mile two door Century for 1500? I'd chase it like a rabid dog, but, be wary until I had a title in hand, and the car in my garage.

i would have bought that in 2 seconds... thats a 7k car all day long.

  26. Voice mail box is full.... imagine that. For $1500 I'd push that thing back to Washington, even with Minnesota floorpans.

  27. Buy it. Shave it. Hammer it.

Yea I've called several times today. I work nights so I'm hoping it doesn't go overnight. I wouldn't flip it, just drive it.
