Hello: Finally finished making my 1957 Oldsmobile J2 Engine Display for my basement. The below YOU TUBE link gets you there, to see the total effect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWKgDTXHhQE
No, Already have one in my 57. This is just for Fun and Display. Check out my photo album, you can see the car.
It's empty. I made a PVC straight crank shaft, with a few wheel bearings in the Main Caps. I have an electric gear motor hidden in the oil pan that turns the engine. I have that on a remote start. The engine is untouched and I made no modification to it.... to do this. It can be used and built for a car. Just thought I do something with it.
I figured your the same guy that has that beat up gold 57. Only kidding that car is drop dead georgeous. I see you did a burn out with it, did you ever run it in the 1/4?
what a beautiful display. My father drag raced his 53 Vickie with a J2 back in the 50's. I know his did not look that nice though.
Thanks for the kind words. Never ran it down the 1/4 mile. It does pull real strong though. That burn out was right after I put in a 3.64 posi unit. In 1957 they had no Posi yet, 1958 was the first year. 29 Spline, and in 59-64, went to 31 spline axles.
This is awesome! Wish more folks would do this. You might say it's automotive art and that, my friend, is definitely a work of art. I want one in my living room!
Thanks for the kind words. That was my plan "living room", but I had to settle for the basement...trust me, and I'm lucky she let me do that.
so it IS in your basement. i thought you were kidding when you said that on youtube. haha. thats too cool man
Yep it was interseting when me and my buddy halled the block though the kicthen, and then bounced teh block down each basement step. Many weired and confused looks from the wife and my two kids.
Dude! You've got your own little museum display there! That is beyond cool! You pushed the Cool-O-Meter® all the way up to Eleven! See? ----------
