  1. Looking good, Danny. In my opinion, it needs the wires. The car turned out great.

That is the most wonderful carpet I have ever seen. It complements the rest of that space age interior. Best car on the H.A.M.B. in my opinion.

I wanted Trinidad carpets for my car but settled for black with white vinyl piping. I was surprised to find that the mat started to wear rather quickly under the driver heel. I suggest you get either clear plastic mats or substitute mats to protect those beautiful carpets. Love, love what you have done with your car. Cudos to the old man for his excellent paint job!

I like them but ultimately decided they don't have the right offset and are a little too narrow in the rear. So for now it's running chrome steel wheels again :)

Love your interior! Where did you find the Trinidad carpet? I can't find it anywhere.

  11. I vote that the chrome steel wheels exposed are absolutely perfect on this car. They really carry the "tough" side of the car. It's the perfect blend of classy and sinister. Like a bar fight in a Versace tux, buzzed on top shelf bourbon. This is my personal favorite on the HAMB, and one of the best executed customs of all time. You've got a great eye, Sir.

  12. Carpet looks fantastic! A perfect detail that just fits with the rest of the car.

Despite differing opinions about the wheels, it is quite apparent that all are in accord on the beauty of this build, and each step seems to take it to a new level.
Are their any plans for dress-up under the hood?

  14. Dude - that's like asking a women if she has any plans to lose weight. She never did until you asked.
BTW - Gotgas probably hates you now because you got him thinking.

I have a factory 2x4 intake but it's missing the early (and pricey) WCFB carbs. I've also got an early Hilborn injector with the short, straight stacks like Wally Parks / HRM ran on Suddenly. That would look awesome, but there's no way I'd try to run mechanical injection, and I also don't want a hacked up ugly mess with EFI wiring and sensors and crap draped all over it. It would take some planning to make it look good and run right.

But for now it's all just dreaming and the car is stock. :) I'll let you guys know if that changes. :D

Did a subtle little thing as a nod to the southern CA mild customs of the late '50s. I'll let the eagle-eyed pick it out this time :D

I'll be at Pistons and Paint this weekend, hope to meet some of you there!

X2, thanks for the PM confirmation!

I keep looking at it and wondering what else to add. Thing is, it's perfect as-is with the right amount of smoothing/removal and nothing gaudy added!
Even this addition might be more than needed. Bellflower tips would ruin the rocker lines. Dual antennas would be gingerbread on a glazed dessert. Different rear speaker covers would shout 'look at me'. Maybe a transparent wheel, but the current one picks up the exterior colors beautifully.

Yeah, you guys figured it out! ;) It's just chrome plastic tape, not sure how long it will last. I like the look but I'm not ready to make a long term commitment just yet. :D

Your car; your choice. Up 'til now I've liked everything you've done to the car. However, I like it better without the stripes. I'm hoping you get tired of them and remove them.

But it isn't my car. My opinion is worth less than what you paid for it.

Thank you guys! You can't call it a custom until someone gripes about it! :D

Drove the car to Pistons and Paint this weekend. It was a great time, with awesome weather, great friends, and a bunch of amazing cars. For me, one of the highlights was the car being awarded the Chupacabras' club "Bubba's Pick" and getting to pick it up with my dad. And Bubba even bragged about how straight it is in front of everyone! :D Way to go dad!

thank you for the photo @pecker head

Looking at the car does something I can't quite explain, an ephemeral emotion that is there and gone, until the next time I view the car. I guess that is what perfection does to someone.
