That is a top of the line 1958 Dodge Regal Lancer, owned by friend in Austin. It's a very rare car, with fewer than 1200 built. They all had that specific trim design, were all painted some combination of copper with either black or white, and they had a really great, unique copper interior in them including a copper headliner. Very cool car!

Ah, wasn't aware of a Regal Lancer. looks great.
Had a '57 Dodge Coronet back in HS. Not sure, but I think the Coronet had a shorter wheelbase ?

I was already sold on it but the photoshop comparison pics are really incredible. And honestly I like it much better with the current wheels than the wires in the image.

So many cars get the photoshop treatment and it's rare but fun to see how they actually turn out vs. the picture.

@Gotgas did you do the Photoshop yourself or work with an artist...

Just curious because if your the artist you are working to your vision.

If your working with an artist they design based on your described vision.

I really like conceptual designs...better frame that it's a keeper...;)

Thank you guys for the compliments, it means a lot! @Squablow I think I also like the current wheels better than the photoshopped Chrysler wires. But these are starting to show some age and those spider caps are an absolute bastard to deal with. I may also try some slightly thinner whites next time. @Stogy I did that photoshop myself. I did quite a few Mopar photoshops around that time, and they still turn up occasionally. ;) :D

Gotgas, This thread dropped out of my notifications a while back and I just got caught back up. Amazing completion!
While the build may be done, keep us updated on the little stuff and milestones. Maybe someday I'll be able to travel to Texas and see it in person (and meet you and Tfeverfred)!

i usually drill and tap the wheels to accept the spider caps, and trash the hokey ass mounting rings. of course that requires commitment.

    GG,

I'm one of the multitudes who have watched this thread since the first day you started it. So here's my first and only post here:

    Ya done good, son.

Perhaps some day I will get the opportunity to see your car in person, but if not I'm glad I got to see it in pix as it was going together.

  17. Danny, that's just right. There have been some great cars built lately, your's is way up there. I love it.
PS, It'd look a lot better with the wires or some caps. That car is too classy to run around showing it's nuts...

Thanks again, guys. @Chili Phil we'll see man. I may swap on the wires from the wagon this weekend while I drill and tap the wheels as @ray suggested. Was also thinking I might run some 3 or 4 bar spinners, or smooth Stude wheel covers. A girl can't have just one pair of shoes! But I really have no issue at all with these, I happen to think they're pretty bad ass. :D

You & your dad have built one amazing car. It catches the eye from every angle and looks like it is in motion. Congratulations on a job beyond well done.

If you were to change to spinners, I'm partial to these. And, they'd be right at home on your car! Scarce, though.

Work, but I think it’s too good for caps...

It's been said but I'll give my 2¢. Outstanding build. Clinically clean and superbly executed Mopar.

Count one vote for the wheels that're on it! And that from a huge fan of '57-'58 Lancer caps on just about everything.

Would Shannon cones make life easier?
The A. Bros. used them a lot, often with a 2-bar spinner. Perhaps you could put your own "spin" on it.

Alright, I just had to brag on my dad a little more! The Chrysler got a 'Best Paint' award at a car show over the weekend, and there were some professionally built / rotisserie cars there. That's quite an accomplishment, especially when you consider he did every bit of the paint work on this thing in a dirty, dark, cold little shop - and it's black. He kicked ass!

  30. What a great honor for your dad and you. Nice to see the little guy get rewarded for his efforts.
By the way it is a standout.
