Nice work Zak !
Starting your own business can be a great thing or a yoke around your neck.
I am happy to see you will be doing what you love to do. If you do what you like to do , you will never dread going to work in the morning. Good luck!!
Just got these cars, gotta go pick them up, way up in Wisconsin. But Austin A40s make killer drag cars so it’s worth the drive.
One more English car . Can't wait to see that one built.
Converted the crossways tunnel ram to inline carbs, had to mill the top to get the 50cc pumps and arms to clear, and surfaced the top. It fits twin 660s with rear jet plates now though. We’ll see if the car picks up, gonna try it.
Nice. The 660s are a great carb.
Just got a core to tear apart to start building a new engine for the homegrown 57!
You crossed over to the dark ( blue oval ) side now.
It’s not a brand thing, it’s the abundance of good parts, and head design. I think it’ll be better. If I’m wrong I can always go back chevy powered.
Now you are talking my language LOL Can't wait to see how it runs.
Looks like you'll be looking for some 6.14 gears. Is that gonna be a Jimmy Huff 351 Cleveland?
You guys have a Bob Glidden stash somewhere?
Will be huff inspired! I’m already running 6.17s in my Dana with the big block Chevy!
Ford in a Chevy, love it! That'll shake 'em up
Chevy makes it ,Ford shakes it.
Going to the darkside ! Cool ! A Tri-five with Cleveland. The bow tie crowd is going to give you a hard time. Kinda like a guy that put a 427 tunnel port in his 59 Corvette Gasser back in the 60's in Miami.
Good luck with it . Are you going to go to C/gas like Jimmy Huff did
You better be careful, those valve covers make it look like a FO........oh!
I wish the SEGA guys would post up their engine builds and suspension set ups. That's the kind of stuff I like to see.
Yep going to C gas is my plan.
I don't blame you after going to the Knoxville race it looks like the only way anybody is going to beat the Slingshot car is if he makes a mistake . Too much money under the hood . I have been buying Lottery tickets , that is the only chance I have to compete when I finally get my car done.
No way my home made car and home built motor can compete with the likes of a Gene Fulton motor.
Hey Zak, that guy in the Hoopty Wagon is definitely opening some eyes! Last year he almost had Quain and now, You. I believe you're Up for the challenge. Good Luck, Carp.
I don't know about the big money, seems I heard Silver Streak has an "old" Fulton motor. But still, if you want to run with the big dogs and are on a tight DIY budget, you better have some good tricks up your sleeve - and I don't lol. The way C/g is growing, at some point you're gonna have to be on top of your game just to qualify.
I know around what the heads cost that’s on the top 3-4 in B gas, and Kenneth has the same ones on his engine. They are high dollar engines. C gas will have to have a 32 car field before it’s not a run all class. The hardest class to run in the SEGA is B gas. Slingshot runs 5.80s, that’s the equivalent of a 6.20 in C gas or a 5.30 in A gas at the hp per ci he’s making. So you really wanna run A or C, and my car at 3200lb with me in it would need a 530ci engine in A, and you’d never get it to hook and go down the track. So I figured I’d build a small block and drop to C gas, it makes the most sense.
I like the way you think Zak!
C/gas takes what to win nowadays? 6.50-6.60?
From what I see low 6.70's puts you in the ball game in C/Gas. That's what we ran in a 3400 lb. 67 Firebird in G/Gas in 1975 with 305 cu. in. with iron heads .
Want to fix it all ? 2000 claimer heads in C, 4000 claimer heads in A and B. Still would be way ahead of technology in 1967 ! If you don't give them up, you forfeit winnings and points. Put it back in the drivers hands. Seen this coming, there will be more B cars bailing, you can hear it in the voices of the ones being interviewed.
Quain and I have been talking about this for quite a while. I am working on something that may help with engine cost and make tech much easier.

This happens with every race sanctioning body but Quain seems to be extremely dedicated and with his experience in several types of racing. I bet he's already got ideas on how to fix it.
My son and I have been following SEG for 5 years on here and in person when my schedule permits, and you can't get more dedicated racers and leader. Also no better bang for the buck when it comes to going to a race. I have faith the series will stay strong and remember its roots.
