They will be trimmed and capped with easy disconnects. Hopefully get the full exhaust done this week.

Does anyone make a 4 inch header flange? It would be easier than making one for the main header. No more complaints about the dirt roads. IMG_20180530_160243.jpg

Not big progress but something is better than nothing.

Try SPD for your collector flanges/caps. They don't show 4" collector flanges in the catalog but they might have them or be able to make some if you give them a call. I've bought from them before, their stuff is nice and not horribly expensive.
Hedman used to make them but that was long ago. At my shop I made my own when needed; 1/4"x5 1/2" plate, a plasma cutter, a drill press and an hour or so and you've got it - any shape or any number of bolt holes.

Thanks......I will check them out. We can make them also but we get distracted and it takes longer than it should. LOL

Slow but it's progress at least. Got the exhaust largely done. Augers installed. Started on the front shock mounts.

bchctybob, that place does have 4 inch flanges. Not actual header ones so we will have to make the blocking plate but still quicker. Thanks.

Finally a little more work done. Old Pontiac parts are not all that easy to come by.

Hopefully will have it working shortly.

  11. I seem to remember selling some guy some rusty & crusty 56 Pontiac pedals & brackets. They look much better now.

Long after I figured I would have been done and 63 years after it was initially done, I have three pedals.

Lookin' good, glad to see it progressing nicely.
I ran across a nice '55 Pontiac with a 389/Hydro in it yesterday, made me wonder how yours was coming along. Dig those Tri-five Pontiacs.

Nice. Have you considered adding an extra lever arm for each rod?

I'm hoping this works as this is taking far longer than I figured the way it is. :D

I'm not saying to redo the geometry. Just give the pivot bolt a chance of surviving the force placed upon it so it won't bend or worse yet fail. I'll use these shock brackets as an example to show how there wouldn't be any more side force.

I didn't quite get what Johnny Gee was saying at first but he's suggesting that you make the levers double-shear with a Heim in between. Those single sided rod ends may not be up to the task for clutch or brake pedal loads.

Thanks, right. I'm going to look at it. The clutch will be factory outside of one bracket.

Wow, nothing since April. I have appx 2.5 weeks open and trying to at least get it running. I got a radiator (anyone need a real nice 56 radiator with shroud?)

Got the seats initially mocked up. Used the factory floor brackets. Hole cut for M/C. 60 some years of grime off the fuel tank.

Sir what radiator did you get? I need to get one for my 56. Mine is the factory original and it has a leak. Was thinking of getting a 56 GMC radiator as it cooled a 56 Pontiac engine.

I am not going anywhere close to factory. It's an aluminum high flow radiator. How bad is the leak? Many can be fixed or as I noted, I have my original that I would sell.

The GMC should have the inlet and outlet in the right places but I have no idea how well it would fit.
